I have been unable to eject a CD from the drive slot?

Help please. A music CD is not being recognised by the computer as even being there and the drive is not responding to the eject button.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.5), software has been updated to 10.95

Restart the Mac holding the mouse button down until the cd is ejected.
