Oct 28, 2014 2:19 PM in response to mickeyfrommeby rkaufmann87,Yosemite is stable and can be downloaded, however if you are trying to fix a problem by downloading it then first get the issue you are having fixed. Installing a new OS over an existing problem will make the problem much worse.
I would strongly recommend you read and follow the steps in How to Prepare a Mac for the OS X Yosemite Update the Right Way, you can find the article by clicking http://osxdaily.com/2014/10/13/prepare-mac-for-os-x-yosemite-update/

Nov 2, 2014 9:36 AM in response to mickeyfrommeby mickeyfromme,I use Java to play games. Will Java operate with the new Yosemite upgrade? I read somewhere not to use Java. When Java had the breach, last summer, Apple did not allow me to even play using Java. I can play now, but the graphics in Pogo are 10 years old. Any suggestions?

Nov 2, 2014 10:11 AM in response to mickeyfrommeby jjtopspin,I have this question too. I am still hesitant to upgrade to Yosemite because when I checked the updates I was warned that iPhoto Version 9.6 addressees compatibility with OS X Yosemite and stability improvements. I also have an older iMac (early 2008) which has only 2GB memory, I read an article that I need at least a minimum of 4 GB memory to upgrade to Yosemite. For now, I think I am just going to stay with Maverick. With all these issues I have been reading about the latest upgrades, I am glad I did not upgrade my Mac Pro 2010 which has the Snow Leopard OS because until now it is still running smoothly without any problems.

Nov 4, 2014 5:46 AM in response to mickeyfrommeby Eric Root,One option is to create a new partition (~30- 50 GB), install the new OS, and ‘test drive’ it. If you like/don’t like it it, you can then remove the partition. Do a backup before you do anything. By doing this, if you don’t like it you won't have to go though the revert process.

Jan 28, 2015 10:10 PM in response to mickeyfrommeby c12345e,I had serious doubts about downloading Yosemite, too. I eventually downloaded it. I have had some problems but so far all have been fixed (by me so if you do get it and it's playing up just ask). There are some major good upgrades in Yosemite, but most of them are to do with design. I would recommend getting it if you don't mind annoying mishaps sometimes that are fixable but are plain annoying. Hope this helps, not confuses!
Thanks
X
