Health App freezes, looses data

I'm beyond frustrated with the health app and healthkit in general. I have 3 fitness related apps that I use on my 5s (iOS 8.1): MyFitnessPal, Withings and iSmoothRun. I use MFP to track food intake, Withings has my steps tracking, scale and blood preasure and iSmoothRun for running and cycling. The apps worked fine together until health was introduced into the question.

The question: Does anyone else use Withings and MFP together with health and have it reliably work?

Earlier this week, the 'health' app was using 1.4GB of data on my phone. The dashboards were missing and if I went to add them back manually, they would show no data. Nothing I could do would make the data show. Worse still, any app that was trying to read or write health data would become unresponsive. I tried all kinds of things. Re-installing apps, powering off the phone, nothing worked. So in desperation, I completely wiped my phone and started over.

Today, the health app was listed as using 53MB of data. When I would go in to MFP to try and add food, the app would freeze. Similarly if I went into the health app, there would be no dashboards. If you force the apps to quit and restart them they'll work for a few minutes then freeze again. If you're in the health app, if you alter the settings by turning off data sources, exit out of the data source and go back into the one you just changed, it will revert back to the previous settings. Similarly if you try to re-add a missing dashboard, it would show up but with no data. I powered off the phone and now the dashboards are mysteriously back, but only 2 of 4 have data and the storage is only 8Mb. This is a common remedy you'll come across if you search these discussions. What happened to the other 45Mb it was using? It seems like when the health data size gets big it can't process it all and things start to time out.

I can't be continuously restarting the phone just to have my apps work. I've disabled everything in health and hoping for the best, but would like to know if it's just me, my app choices or what's going wrong here.

I am having a similar problem on a 6 plus .I am using MFP , Runkeeper , Human and Withings .The apps still work but the Health Dashboard has ditched both data and settings and will not add data . IOS 8.1 was supposed to have fixed this .Used to be able to fix this with either phone restart or hard reset but no luck with this or synching with iTunes .

Very disappointing .Wish I could make a suggestion and will post a fix when and if I find one

I am also having similar issues. Not sure about the freezing of apps but I have lost all data that was in the health app and whenever I start the health app it is reset I think and displays 3 items from the fitness category (Steps, Walking + Running Distance, and Flights Climbed). I have never added flights climbed to my dashboard myself any other items I had previously put on my dashboard are gone.

There is no data displayed in either graph or table form.

The apps I have connected are Withings, Sleep Cycle, UP, MyFitnessPal and Fitness Point. Fitness Point have only added support recently, after this problem started. This problem seemed to start after 8.1 update but I don't think it was immediate, maybe happened after a restart.

I've tried to manually add a data point in weight and that didn't work either. Still trying various things but it seems there are a few people having the same issue.

This is on an iPhone 6 with iOS 8.1.

Thanks for this post . After much fiddling around , I did a full restore and the app does work again although previously manually entered data is now gone .

I also logout of authorized contributing apps and logged in again and this did not seem to make a difference . I have quite a few Apple devices that were signed in to iCloud and shut them down to eliminate iCloud synching issues and that does not seem to have been an issue .

It seems that the restore and reinstall of the Health app did it .

Once again thanks

I have the same problem, and it seems to have started with a recent update to either UP or Myfitnesspal.

I have both configured to read/write data to the Health app (UP reads/writes sleep data - but doesn't actually right now due to a bug, and MFP reads/writes calories, and uses the iPhone for steps).

Used to work fine, but now, if I open UP, the next time I open Health, it's blank. If I open MFP, it'll work for a moment, and then freeze. The Health app is completely blank, as if I had never used it. I have to restart my phone (after force-quitting the apps) in order for MFP to work again.

Hmmm... In typing this out, maybe UP is the problem in my case?
