FCP 7 won't import File

Need Help: I'm recording with a Canon XHA1s camcorder in HDTV/24FPS to a Focus FS-CF Pro with CF Card..When trying to import into FCP 7. I keep getting an error message. "File Error: 1 File(s) recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unknown."

Open file in Quicktime and here the specs are:

Format: HDV 1080p24, 1440 x 1080 (1888 x 1062)

Linear PCM, 16 bit big-endian signed integer, 2 channels, 48000 Hz

FPS: 23.98

Data Size: 73.4 MB

Data Rate: 26.53 Mbit/s

Tried trashing FCP preferences

Any help would be greatly appreciated: Hopefully I won't have to convert file each and every time

iMac (27-inch Late 2009), OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

Does the clip appear in your bin?

If so you can dismiss the warning. The error is saying that adjacent to the movie file was another file that it could not import.

Often metadata is included with the video file in a separate file for systems that can read it. FCP does not use the metadata file.

You should be able to import the folder of video files, and if it contains (for example) 10 video files, you will get an error message saying:

"File Error: 10 File(s) recognized, 0 access denied, 10 unknown." which you can dismiss. As long as the video files are indeed importing into the bin.

If the error message is preventing you from importing the video file into your bin, post back.

Thought that might work but it didn't...This time I received the dreaded "General Error" message. No files were imported into the bin that was created.....The folder that I was trying to import contain the .mov file and xml file.

Are you trying to import directly from the CF card?

If you copy the contents from the card to another drive, can you import then?

This time I Tried importing contents of CF Card while in device and also tried copying contents to hard drive and same error message.."General Error"

Before I just tried importing the .mov file and received the other error message "File Error: 1 File(s) recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unknown."

Open in Quick time and click Open Inspector and this is what the results are:

Format: HDV 1080p24, 1440 x 1080 (1888 x 1062)

And when you open the file in QuickTime, the file plays correctly, as you expect?

When I convert the file thru a third party conversion software to another .mov file I can import into FCP7, I'm trying to avoid having to convert an hour long movie file, it would be nice to import directly from CF Card from card reader or from CF Card while still install in portable hard drive.

You are importing by going to the menu File > Import?

What happens if you drag the file from the Finder into the FCP Browser?

Have you tried using Log and Transfer to import the file?

Format: HDV 1080i60, 1440 x 1080 (1888 x 1062)

Linear PCM, 16 bit big-endian signed integer, 2 channels, 48000 Hz

FPS: 29.97

Data Size: 73.4 MB

Data Rate: 26.53 Mbit/s

It has been a few years since I've worked with one of the these devices. Looked at a FS brochure but no help there. Have you done this successfully before?

Can you open the file in Compressor?

If so you could batch process the files into ProRes.

No this is my very first time trying to import any footage into FCP with this type of device...Recently purchased device and been trying unsuccessfully to import files from different formats....",mov , M2t....If I changed the camera to shoot in DV mode I have no problem importing, it's when I changed camera back to HDV and then try to import the different formats...Spending lots of hours trying to figure thow to make this happen with having to convert or go through compressor....Open up compressor also and no luck...WOW....
