FCP 7 won't import File

Need Help: I'm recording with a Canon XHA1s camcorder in HDTV/24FPS to a Focus FS-CF Pro with CF Card..When trying to import into FCP 7. I keep getting an error message. "File Error: 1 File(s) recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unknown."

Open file in Quicktime and here the specs are:

Format: HDV 1080p24, 1440 x 1080 (1888 x 1062)

Linear PCM, 16 bit big-endian signed integer, 2 channels, 48000 Hz

FPS: 23.98

Data Size: 73.4 MB

Data Rate: 26.53 Mbit/s

Tried trashing FCP preferences

Any help would be greatly appreciated: Hopefully I won't have to convert file each and every time

I finally gave up trying to capture recent footage from my XHA1 into Final Cup Pro (6.0.6). I could import low res by channeling the signal through an external hard drive and then into FCP (as recommended by some online comments), but that gave disappointing results. I heard online that Canon considers the XHA1 outdated and no longer provides support for the Mac.

Then I decided to try importing to iMovie. It came in as full HD! After that, it's simply a matter of importing iMovie clips (.mov) into the FCP Browser. For me, the problem is solved!

If you shot to HDV tape, then it would easily come in via firewire, as HDV, in HD. Just use the HDV Easy Setup. Your issue was that you recorded to an external recorder, the Focus FS-CP Pro. And it recorded to some HDV format that FCP had issue with. Odd that an external recorder would record to HDV. I mean, why not use the camera at that point, since it shoots HDV. Most people use an external recorder when it records to a better format, like ProRes.

Just curious
