Changing Siri's Name

I have a similar issue. My best friend’s name is Cirri. Her name is unique so people make jokes about it. Plus, it’s problematic when she is in the same room as me, for the reas you describe. They should give us a few name options to choose, at least.

Your point is a good one, although I'm not on board with Siri being stupid. "Challenged" is more my take. Countless words or names that could be used in the stead of Siri will invariably at some point if only "diallectically", have a similarity to an oft-spoken word or name. The preceding qualifier "Hey" was clearly meant to significantly lessen those events. To me it appears Apple is intent upon doubling down on an early-adopted brand name/convention that perhaps no longer is the best choice. Personally, I favor a condition that would allow inclined users to amend the convention to that of their choosing. Jeeves, Bonapart, Worthington, Hey You. Something. Anything.

I completely agree! We all should have a choice on what we would like to choose our personal assistant’s name to be. After paying over $1000 for the iPhone X I think I should have the right to call it whatever I choose. The argument that Siri is Siri and that’s that because it’s Apple and things will never change just doesn’t hold any water with me, and the reason why it does not hold any water is because it still has the logo Apple on the iPhone X or whatever iPhone you have, and it will always be an iPhone no matter what version it maybe so the product will be whatever it is so the name of the voice should be able to change. I bet Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are just spinning because they decided to name their daughter Suri. However, come to think of it maybe it is Apple itself, and are they trying to make us all Scientologists? Is it subliminal or overtly a conspiracy?? Something to think about everyone!!! On this very off-topic but relevant Point, I want to say that Katie Holmes has been inspirational throughout this entire ordeal… I can only imagine their daughter Suri going through the torment of life being called the same name as an Apple voice.

Gosh for the child’s sake alone allow us to change our own personal assistant! Our children can change their names legally if they want to later on if they don’t like it, so why can’t I change my darn Apple Siri to any other name I would like in the world!

Since we all are in agreement what can we do besides send a comment to Apple… Hasn’t done any good for 10 generations of the phone so what would make the difference now? The problem really is a problem with the logistical, “Hey Siri“ and everybody’s phone goes off it’s ridiculous and extremely annoying. I guarantee you that the Apple geniuses have a way to change it but they’re not sharing it! There has to be a magic word or code or phrase to tell Siri so that we can change I have a litany of names that I would like to call Siri, it changes on a daily basis sometimes moment by moment depending on the response it gives me ha ha!

I feel Apple could use a over ride for your phone only. Siri is Siri but Siri could let you pick a name for your phone. One you deleted your phone name, then Siri would go back to

Lore, then I can ask the DM for Lore checks all day long.

Considering Siri is too stupid to NOT react when listening to podcasts when someone says seriously, modifying her wake name IS essential.

I agree - especially now there is Homepod. Whenever we say Hey Siri, my IphoneX, pad, Homepod, all answer.

To be clear, with Alexa you only have 2 choices, ‘Alexa’ or ‘Echo’. It’s not that you can give it a name you create (but at least you can choose an alternate to ‘Alexa‘).

And that is exactly why I am starting to prefer Amazon to Apple. I hate Siri, especially her name. She does not even let me get half of my sentence out before she tells me that she did not understand my question. I have tried to turn her off, do a hard reset on my phone, turn her back on after, and she still the same *****! She is sarcastic and rude and she does not take criticism well. Or at all... and she definitely does not know how to correct her self when there is obviously a problem.

Does anybody know anything about Cortana or about Alexa? Do they suck like Siri? I'm sure I know the reason you guys don't want people changing her name, as we would all be calling her Dumb Inefficient *****. Since the top of my phone says "Apple Inc.," I'm pretty sure you're getting my feedback.
