OS X Yosemite Keeps Crashing To Log-In Screen

Startup – Computer restarts by itself – Yosemite

I am experiencing the EXACT symptoms as well. Typically moving between apps/active windows, minimizing etc. On login, certain apps are still running (Outlook, Omnigraffle), others restart (Tasks, Chrome Canary).

Is there any progress here? I've been plying through Syslogs for hours this eve, looking for a hint on root cause. 🙂

No real way to test as it seems random. I thought it might be a load issue.

Same thing is happening to my Mac mini too. It suddenly freezes and crashes to the log-in screen.

Very similar thing happening on my iMac (Early 2009) running Yosemite. I have been able to replicate my problem a few times. So I'm logged into my Admin account, and my wife then logs into her (standard) user account (while my user account is still running). She then logs out, and I log back into my user session which is still running. As the desktop appears and the Finder icons show my login session is abruptly terminated and I'm back at the login screen with no users actively logged in.

I've just installed an SSD into my optical drive and created a Fusion drive, and then restored from my Time Machine backup, and the same thing occurs on my new Fusion Drive setup (I suppose I shouldn't be surprised because it is exactly the same OS, User accounts and etc). Think I'll reinstall the OS over the top of my existing one to see if that fixes it.

I've had this happen a few times as well, hoping someone figures this out or a .X patch fixes this, e.g. 10.10.2...

I have multiple user accounts which I switch back and forth between during the day. Some days, I can work all day long and not see the issue. Other days, it happens three times before lunch. I have not detected a pattern. (And, I do not have any Omni products installed.)

Since Omni doesn't appear to be common...

2 other patterns:

1) M$ Office installed?

2) X-Finder installed?

a) xFinder stopped working on the upgrade, so I un-installed.

Is either of these common?

No Omni; No x-finder; Yes MS Office. And yes on multiple logins to my machine.

I don't have Omni, MS Office or X-Finder.

Same issue for me. It seems to happen most frequently when doing things that affect the graphics like disconnecting a monitor from my rMBR or taking Parallels out of full screen mode, but I haven't found anything concrete.
