How about officially supporting Teleport?

There's a very useful app called Teleport which allows you to share a keyboard and mouse between multiple computers. The developer, Julien Robert, works for Apple in Paris, France, but it's a poorly maintained, and it breaks every time a new major release comes out. We have to wait months for him to change a couple lines of code. Currently, it's keeping me from buying a retina mac, because my stinking "Free" mouse sharing program won't work if I do.

Dear Apple, please let the guy support the product on your dime; or better yet, add it to the OS. It's a very useful product. People who use it own Multiple iMacs. We're good customers. Make our lives less stressful, please.

I have heard (from other threads on here) that Apple does not necessarily read any of these discussions so it might be good to write to the apple feedback machine (do a google for apple feedback) as well as here. I too have found teleport to be a very useful app and it would be great to see it integrated into the OS. Also like you I have been frustrated when a very small feature is holding my otherwise awesome system back from working. That said, there are other options for this kind of functionality.

I have not tried it yet but there is an open source project called Synergy. And I think there's one more that I can't remember the name of. I was researching this about a year ago and once I got Teleport to work (moistly) I didn't follow through with any others. The "feature" in Teleport that I hope is in Synergy is the hot key for "crossing the divide". Without it I find myself going over the edge far too often. Good luck.

Sorry, I didn't catch that this was a question for me and wasn't properly answered. There is a well hidden set of options in Teleport. You have to click on what I think could be called the "host" screen in the layout window and there is an options menu that pops up. In there are options for switching. It can be a delay, a double tap or holding a preset key down in order to "cross over". I just installed Synergy since I'm now working with a Linux computer and it looks like they only have the delay option. There are hot keys in Synergy but they seem to do with remapping keys from one side to the other.
