Finder sort by name not working

In the Finder, using the column view, I have folders with over an hundred files, I would like to sort them by name since I know the name of the files and it would be easy to find it that way. Unfortunately when I select "sort by name", it doesn't look like it is sorted at all.

Maybe it is confused by the fact that English is not the first language in the setting (French Canadian, French then English US).

I'm wondering if it's a bug ... or just a crippled feature.
