Quick look does not work with those video file types. I was never able to get perian to successfully work but if you just want to watch those types of files I would recommend VLC Player to play those files. I Have used it in the past.

I assure you, I am correct. I just tested quick look with both a .WMV and a .FLV file on my Mac Book Pro which is running OS X Mavericks. Both files would not be previewed. Are you 100% sure that you are talking about those file extensions?

absolutely! flip4mac and periain -activate quicklook for wmv and flv and many hanover formats )))) bot! not in Yosemite ((((
as you can see OS X Mavericks with pertain and quick look of a .wmv file
For wmv you need flip4mac

I would assume that the reason it doesn't work for you on Yosemite is because the apps have not been updated to work with the OS yet so maybe the next time they are updated then they will work for you. But last I heard Perian development stopped and will not be updated; unless someone else took over the project.

Same problem. It makes me mad... finally I converted all FLV and AVI videos into MOV format that quicktime supports...
This is very very frustrating - I'm used to work with lot's of small video files of all kinds of formats, and before, when I was on Snow Leopard, everything played in QuickLook perfectly! It was the fastest way to browse through videos. Now I upgraded finally to Yosemite, and most awesome Quick-look plug-ins just stopped working. Very very mad! Common Apple, we are in 21 century - not all the world works on QuickTime files!
