I have a small business and I was thinking about converting over to Mac's for the office! We currently have a PC with XP set-up! But I had just finished putting an Access database together and really like the layout, I spent alot of time putting it together. I have an iMac at home but have yet to try to open the DB there. But I just noticed last night that I don't even have Access for Mac at home and I have looked at Mactopia and there isn't a listing for Access! So is there another way to open this DB? with another program?
Sorry, but there is no way to open an Access DB using Mac OS X.
Microsoft Access is only for Windows.
If you want to use your Intel-based Mac to open Access databases... you'll need to install Windows on your Mac using either Boot Camp, or Parallels desktop.
There is a way to open Access databases on the Mac. You can do so using NeoOffice or OpenOffice.org. NeoOffice is my choice as it's (close to) a native Mac application. (

Never used the database functionality myself as I have no need for it, but it's there.
NeoOffice does have a database component which is similar to Microsoft Access, however is is not compatible with Microsoft Access.
NeoOffice databases use a standard dbase file format, which offers limited database functionality. It will not open a MS Access database file.
This format is proprietary to Microsoft.
According to the help in NeoOffice, there is a way to import Access database files, but I see other people around the web saying they've been unsuccessful in doing so. Anyway, hopefully OpenOffice.org improves on that in the future.
