iPhone 6 - Clean HDMI Video Out

Hi there!

I'm working on a new prestige project; shooting a short movie on a iPhone 6.

Due the standard h.264 compression the iPhone uses to save its video files is nice but very limited for a professional post workflow i'm wondering if there is any option to output the camera signal to a HDMI cable? This way we could use an professional external recorder (like this) to save the video to a Prores 422 compression.

I found the following adapter, but i'm afraid it only outputs a mirror signal of the iPhone's screen, and not a clean 'video out' of the camera's footage.

Does someone of you have experience or a briljant idea or solution?

Thanks a lot!

yeah as stated the hdmi "should" work with mirror but some people report issues at least with the vga version

and even if it did mirror then if I were to make airplay mirror then I would make it 100% the same no matter if it was to an appleTV or hdmi adaptor

if you make special code and encoding and compression depending on the output source your fix the odd bug because much more of a deal

when it's not the same code

If you want to record clear and clean video, perhaps you would like "Filmic Pro" or "MoviePro" apps. Both apps allow you film at 2.5k resolution, with a maximum bitrate of 70mbps. Normally, the iPhone shoots 1080p at 20mbps or less.

I highly recommend either app. Filmic offers a few more choices and settings to tweak, where as Movie Pro offers a strong selection of preset settings.
