unable to sync photos to ipad

Since updating to Mavericks I am unable to sync photos recently added to iPhoto using iTunes. I'm running OSX 10.9.5, iTunes 12.0.1.26 and iPhoto 9.5.1.

I place the photos in an album, but only 103 of the 437 in the album show up in iTunes when I attempt to sync. The 103 photos have been in my iPhoto library for some time. The others are recent. Hope someone can help.

And in the 'Advanced' tab in the preferences panel in my version of iPhoto I don't get the option to always show the filename extension.

Sorry, I was a bit ambiguous. This option is in the Preferences of the Finder, not in the Preferences of iPhoto.

To change the Finder preferences, click somewhere on the empty Desktop to bring the Finder forward, then go to the main menu bar and click Finder > Preferences. Select the "Advanced" tab in the Preferences panel.

If you do not see any extensions with this option enabled, then the original image files really have no filename extensions Andyou will have to add them to the images you want to share to iTunes.

Are they all in an album? Then export photos in the album (kind = original) , add the extensions, reimport the photos.

A lot of work, unfortunately.

That solved the problem. And it wasn't too much work in the end because for some reason when I exported the photos from the album the file extensions were all there - even though they didn't show up in the original files. Weird. But I'm happy now, and can't thank you enough for your patience and perseverance. Many many thanks.
