Can iTunes Match supply missing Metadata for Matched Items?

I recently did a somewhat sloppy job of importing all of my old music into my iTunes library, after which I signed up for iTunes Match. I let it run for quite a long while, and eventually came up with about 2/3 of my songs finding matches. But now I am finding a conundrum.

I apparently have a lot of songs that are missing metadata. ALL metadata. I can't find any id3 tags associated with them. Just a title. In my old system, they were lovingly arranged into folders that identified their artists and albums. Now they are just all lumped into Unknown Artist/Unknown Album. Even if I wanted to go around and google all 1518 of these matched but unknown items, I don't think I'll have much luck with tracks that are just called "01 Intro" or "IV Allegro."

But iTunes Match managed to find them because their status is "Matched." So I may not know what they are... but clearly iTunes does.

So, the question: How do I get iTunes to share that information with me? Can I force iTunes match to update the metadata on my local files or local library?

Hi,

itunes match will not find metadata that is missing. Match uses the sound footprint of the track to determine if the track matches or not.

if the tracks had been imported into iTunes from a CD, you may be able to get track info by selecting the tracks then ctrl click (right click) and select get info and chose find track details. You may need To use TP app to get missing info.
