Nov 6, 2014 11:21 PM in response to donbergenby Warwick Teale,Hi Don, yes I have this issue with FACETIME when I MIRROR my iPhone5 @ iOS8.1 with an TV (ATV Apple TV 3) and an HDMI screen over AIRPLAY
Issue: facetime locked in portrait mode when mirroring iphone (iOS) to AppleTV3 managed HDMI screen over Airplay
This was working correctly in iOS7.x
We use this facility for "conference" calls with a group to group.
I'm looking for a workaround and will keep you posted.

Nov 12, 2014 8:53 AM in response to dcataliniby pamontgo,I have a similar issue. I use PowerPoint in a classroom connected via Apple TV. The orientation on my Phone (5s running IOS 8.1) is horizontal, but the projection is landscape and thus sideways up and down (unreadable). I haven't found a way to correct this problem.

Nov 24, 2014 10:48 PM in response to donbergenby Alan Seideman,Me too! happened since upgrading to ios 8. On an iPhone 6 plus and Apple TV 3. Been doing FaceTime calls like this for over a year. Kids love to talk with grandma on the big screen. The phone seems to lag a lot switching from one orientation to another, same with my wife's 6. Maybe it's an issue with the new iPhones. Anyway, please fix!

Dec 21, 2014 1:41 PM in response to donbergenby westneptune,I too have the same issue with my iPhone 5 and 6 since upgrading to IOS 8. This is ridiculous. The screen on my phone is correct and the screen on the TV is sideways. Help?

Dec 22, 2014 3:29 PM in response to westneptuneby s w k,I also encountered this issue after the IOS 8 upgrade. I called Apple support regarding this issue on October 19. After talking to a couple technicians I was told the issue would be forwarded to engineering and I would be updated on their progress. I sent the tech an email in November, letting him know that subsequent IOS updates didn't help. I never heard anything back.
Edit: I should note that this issue arose for men when using Facetime with mirroring an iPhone 5s using an Apple Lightening-HDMI connector, not Airplay. The symptoms are as described by the other users here. The setup also worked fine under IOS 7.

Dec 30, 2014 10:56 AM in response to gunayby hosifer,I'll second that. Rotation is correct on iPad Air 2, but incorrect on iPhone 6. I imagine it is an issue with iOS for iPhone. Have not tried my daughter's 4s.
