Fuzzy, blurry vision in Yosemite...

I thought my vision had suddenly taken a turn for the worse... but as others have mentioned elsewhere, ever since upgrading to OS X 10.10 Yosemite a lot of the fonts and icons (Menu Bars,..etc) have gone fuzzy, blurry. Strange thing is though, it comes and goes, correcting itself somehow. How does it look fine one moment and then out of focus the next? 😕 Restart helps sometimes. I've also tried some of the suggestions such as "Reduce transparency" (System Prefs>Accessibility>Display>) but that only seems to lighten the background, whereas "Increase contrast" also reduces the jaggies, sharpens the edge of fonts. Other then that, it seems there's not much to be done about it if you're using an older model/display other then switch to another font. Is it the same with latest 21.5 & 27 in. iMac's? Is the Retina 5K display the only model unaffected by this change in font?

Actually, I haven't noticed it in a while. Seems to have magically corrected itself? OS X update since then?

Well, the blur is still there. I just updated to 10.11.1 and it's just as bad. I have read some articles on the web about how to try and make the fonts look better. Do this, do that, use some commands here and there - all nonsense. There should be one simple switch - Yes, I have a retina display. NO - I do not have a retina display. And then the OS makes the appropriate change in the system. Don't tell me that a little company (right?) like Apple couldn't figure out how to do that in about 20 minutes.

They don't want us non-retina folks using our non-retina displays, I think that is obvious - and I am not going to put out a gazillion dollars for a new mac retina display. So, sadly, my obvious choice was to install Windows under Boot Camp and take my family back to Microsoft. So, put that in your pipe and smoke it Apple.

Huh. Really?

My blurring went away entirely when i upgraded to El Cap. Its super way better. Did you not notice any change at all?

I you upgraded to El Cap, it changed the system font and other things. My blurring problem on the old cinema display has completely gone away. YAY.

I am using an HP display, perhaps that's the challenge. I have heard that MAC does't play nice with HP's.

I had forgotten about this... It was still tolerable with my iMac 24-inch (Early 2008) OS X 10.10.5 Yosemite with some setting changes, even after upgrade to 10.11.1 El Capitan. And now it's a thing of the past with 27‑inch iMac with Retina 5K display. 🙂
