Bluetooth Magic Mouse lag / stutter .. , Apple Keyboard lag / stutter

Hello,

I recently installed fresh Yosemite OS X on my MacBook Pro, and I'm noticing a lag when I move the Magic Mouse or when I scroll up or down. With the Keyboard, sometimes I have to wait for half or a 1 second so the letters to be printed on the screen.

Did anyone faced the same issue ? I googled many forums and many people are facing the same issue even with upgrade from Mavericks to Yosemite.

Appreciate your help!

Thanks,

Joe

Thank you for posting your solution. It has helped for me. I have a MacBook Retina, 12", Early 2016 withSierra 10.12.3 and had the same problem. My mouse lag and stuttering is resolved simply by removing and reinstalling the same batteries in my keyboard. Thank you again!

Friends, I think I have discovered a temporary, slightly-better-than-suffering-through-it solution to the strange issue described here with regards to mouse lag, which I have been experiencing as well.

I am still unsure exactly what is causing the issue, however, if you change the actual settings of the mouse acceleration through Terminal, that returns much of the snappiness. Visit this 2010 article from OS X Daily for the details.

I followed the first suggestion they present in the article, essentially using Terminal to alter the global setting of the mouse acceleration to a value of -1. (If you are not comfortable with using Terminal, I highly suggest you read the article thoroughly, as well as the comments, and decide carefully before proceeding.)

I am not crazy about the sensitivity of the mouse as a result, however it is much more predictable and quicker than the current "jiggle" issue, and perhaps this fix might help us to discover the underlying issue. Thoughts welcome.

Turning off Wifi hasn't helped me.

Turning off handoff hasn't helped me.

Running 10.11.3 El Crap, Mid 2012 Macbook pro. 2.9ghz i7, 8gb ram

What's the deal. I can barely work the lag is so bad at times. My MB is connected to a Thunderbolt monitor using a usb keyboard and magic mouse. When the lag starts I can switch to my track pad and its non-existent. Switch back to my magic mouse and it lags so hard I want to throw it across the room. I've tried all the above, new batteries, and a different magic mouse. None of these fixed the problem. Oh and a wired mouse works perfectly. It's not hardware.

This is ridiculous Apple. This should be a high priority to fix, it makes using our very expensive Apple computers frustrating, embarrassing, and almost impossible.

That's strange, but I've got the same model of Macbook Pro and the same amount of RAM installed. I've also got a monitor and a magic mouse connected to it. I am experiencing the same issue. When mouse starts to lag, I can switch to touchpad and use it without any issues. I noticed that it lags more when computer is processing something, like on Photoshop or even Chrome or Safari.

And I am also running on 10.11.3

Please, let me know if you'll get this issue solved. Thanks!

I finally couldn't take it anymore. I switched my mouse to a logitech m705 and it works perfectly. I plugged the usb bluetooth dongle into the back of my thunderbolt and it's been perfect. No lag whatsoever.

I upgraded from Yosemite to El Cap and I'm seeing some other issues as well. Like MS Office 2016 needs to be upgraded after each shutdown or I can't use Outlook. It's the same update every time, which is huge btw. So I'm planning to tar up my user profile and do a clean install of El Cap. Just gotta find the time to do it. I'll update everyone after I do that and let you know if it corrected the problems especially the bluetooth mouse lag. It may be a couple weeks though so be patient with me.

2015 iMac 27", Yosemite 10.10.5

Ok, so I didnt touch my mac for 1 day, and today I found the magic mouse to be lagging (as in seriously laggy - moving pixel by pixel). I plugged in my logitech (cheapo) mouse with BT receiver, and its slightly better, but still having some lags (more usable compared to magic mouse).

Tried all the suggested fixes from various posts, all FAILED. currently downloading El-Capitan, but seems like from everyone's feedback, it wont fix the mouse problem as well.

I have also disconnected ALL devices from my iMac, and still the same. I do have 5G connection, but for some reason, i'm getting connection timeout when trying to connect. So thats another problem for another day.

But i just can't seem to understand, out of nowhere, this problem appears, and NOTHING changed (s/w, h/w, stuff on my computer table etc).

Please HELP.

Same thing. My old MBPro Late 2011 + Magic Mouse have been fine for ages... but now after MB wakes from sleep mouse is all laggy and jittery until I reboot. I don't have handoff, and nothing else bluetooth around.

The only recent addition is that I have a thunderbolt portable drive connected most of the time now.

But the problem only returns after a wake from sleep, and it always resolved by a reboot. So it's definitely an OS/driver issue on the MB.

I had a similar issue too, which may help some folks so i'll share. 2015MBP just upgraded to Sierra. Magic Mouse bumps and stutters. I have two external monitors. One is connected via miniport to the left side of the laptop, and the other via HDMI on the right side. I reset the NVRAM and rebooted. I logged in and then I unplugged the HDMI cable from the right side of the laptop and the mouse started working properly again. So I plugged the monitor back in to the same HDMI port and everything works fine. It seems like bluetooth and hdmi may have been competing for resources. I probably got lucky by resolving the issue with the first cable i pulled, but i suspect that if you disconnect all external devices (monitors, keyboards, mouse, lan, disable wireless) and plug them back in one at a time that they will be assigned their own resources and not step on each other. Similar issue occurs on windows boxes with PnP bios after its reset. Sometimes you have to add your devices back one at a time so they are assigned different resources. Anyway, hope this helps...

I did some more research on this problem and specifically got caught by the posting of ATXBikerTrash.

And Tada: I also have a HDMI cable plugged in to my MacBook Pro (late 2014) and when I remove it, all the problems with the mouse are gone. However, I then don't have a second external screen :-(

Looking at step 5 of https://de.ifixit.com/Teardown/MacBook+Pro+13-Inch+Retina+Display+Late+2013+Tear down/18695 shows that the bluetooth module seems to be located directly next to the HDMI port within the MacBook.

I would like to motivate everybody to have a look, where the bluetooth module is located in their respective machine and what's next to it. Maybe that can help.

However, I have to make clear (in case that Apple starts reading this) that my setup worked flawlessly for at least a year. This issue must have been introduced with some of the OS updates.

Basically - if Apple does not fix this soon - it seems that I will have to look for a new (non Mac) machine.....

Clearly this is an older thread... but for what it's worth handoff was causing this issue for me. Disabling handoff got rid of the problem....

• BT Mouth stuttuering — pause for a sec then continue to move

• Keyboard entry stuttering as well (though keyboard is actually wired — not BT)
