iMac Retina 5K with M295X GPU - is it noisy?

Does anyone have personal experience with the new Retina iMac with the 295X GPU?

iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2012), OS X Yosemite (10.10)

It is very noisy,

I have done a load of test on it. Both CPU and GPU are on the same board and yet looking at the teardown the CPU is the only thing that is effiecently cooled as the GPU is missed.

it's just not cooled well enough. It makes a right racket.

I bought a game on steam called prison architect which is like a theme hospital style prison game which is 128mb or something like that in size. which i thought it would have no problem playing but within the first seconds on gaming the fan rev's up. I've got the fan set to turn on to 80% if it goes over 65 degrees and even with it at 80% i can't get the GPU DIODE temperature to move it just sits on 100 - 107 degrees. the boards are going to melt lol. is 107 degrees alright while playing a ultra low graphics game.

I've tried downloading turbo boost disabler which someone suggested and lost a few degrees in my rendering program but it doesn't seem to have any effect on that game but then the CPU doesn't really get high on the game it's just the graphics it's like it's seriously struggling to run that game at 5k. the only way i could get the fan to no kicking as much was to put it in windowed mode and half the resolution. which is pointless.

photoshop, illustrator, internet watching videos. All these tasks perform fine but having about 9 windows open doing all this stuff is not what i call a load especially on a mac.

and yet this game seems to destroy the GPU.

anyone found a better way of cooling the GPU? I know radeon boards have a history for being hotter but just seems too high.

Well, for hearing-impaired persons, the problem isn't as great.

And others could use pod earphones to listen to other noise.

A large 'white-noise' generator could be set up next to it, so

as to complement that sound with another, to cancel it out.

While these aren't answers that offer support or a cure, they

do in effect suggest someone may be listening. Did you write

an inquiring message to the Apple Feedback page(s) about it?

"Tell us how we’re doing. Select the appropriate feedback option..."

(we read everything, but can’t always respond):

Sorry the issue has gotten out of hand; sound factors vary with

the load of software, temperature, & other combined elements.

In any event...

Good luck & happy computing! 🙂

I agree to vir2l.

iMAC Retina Core i7, M295X GPU 4GB i bought last week (05.05.2015) is also very noisy one or two minutes after starting a game like World of Warcraft or Tomb Raider.

My old iMAC (Late 2011 with Core i7 and standard GPU only 1GB) keeps silent running the Game in same resolution and detail level over hours.

I decide to return the iMAC to get my money back. I am unwilling to pay 3249 Euro for a noisy fan. I payed 500 Euro to upgrade the standard configuration from Core i5 to Core i7 and from a 2GB GPU to a 4GB GPU to ensure having great gaming experience with a few FPS more but that very loud fan is not acceptable. (I won`t expect running Games in 5K i use 2560 x 1440 for World of Warcraft on normal detail level as on my Late 2011 iMAC)

For now, without getting a solution from Apple i'll keep my late 2011 MAC running very well having a few fps less.
