OMG Thank you!! This just happened to me!!😮
It takes longer than you think, even once the apple logo comes up... be patient and wait.
Thank you very much this was really helpful
this did not work for my Iphone 6 Plus. The phone rings when I receive a call and I can talk to Siri; however the screen is black.

If the reset didn't work work you, then it sounds like you have a faulty LCD. Or there's a problem with your back light, or back light circuit. Occasionally back light filters die. They are basically just like a fuse.
If it's a back light issue, you can shine a torch on the screen and see the image very faintly (at the right angle).
The back light is part of the screen assembly, which Apple would replace as part of their screen replacement service.
The back light circuit is on the motherboard, which Apple don't repair, they would offer you an out of warranty replacement if that was the case.
Alternatively, if you are happy to forgo any Out Of Warranty services, there are some really great independent repairers who do iPhone motherboard repairs. They could diagnose and repair this type of problem for you.
Thanks razmee209, that tip helped. I was worried about my phone.
I wonder why it happened in the first place, maybe an iOS problem?
Same has happened to me several times but this morning I had to spend almost half an hour trying to get the phone to reboot/soft reset. This is a real pain. Apple, listen-up, this isn't good enough. Fix it.

If you want Apple to fix your iPhone it's essential that you ask them. 800-275-2273 in the U.S.A. and I think Canada or
This just happened to me with my iPhone 6, and while the soft reset worked, I'm still confused! I was able to open Siri (while the screen was black). When I asked Siri to open my Calendar, it said "I cannot open Calendar right now." My phone also vibrated when I plugged it in and when I turned the ringer off. Is there a problem with my screen? Siri still worked while my screen was black!
Thanks a bunch. You save me a trip to the Apple store.
Yes, thanks so much for the help!
Yep, same thing! Siri worked but the screen was total black. This happened when I tried to open Spotify (app) and it froze. So I powered down, and trying to power back up is when I got the black screen.
You're welcome to those I've helped.
i already press both home and sleep button but it won boot up.. help me pls
Yes, this just happened to me. Pressing the sleep + home button worked.
Thank you
