How much would it cost to fix a broken iPhone 6 screen?

Basically, I got my iPhone 6 on Tuesday My phone carrier is AT&T. Today, on Thursday, two days later, I dropped it and now the screen is cracked. I called Apple and asked them what could I do to fix it. They said that I could bring it in to the Apple Store and get it replaced with a brand new one for $109. So I made an appointment with the Apple Store tomorrow and I will be bringing my iPhone there. Is this true? Because I was looking on the Apple website and it said that my phone won't get replaced because it was accidental damage and I will have to pay more than $109. And another question, since my carrier is AT&T, will they be notified if I get a replacement iPhone from the Apple Store? Will they charge me or add extra fees onto the contract? And if I get a replacement iPhone from the Apple Store, do they just take the SIM card from my old iPhone and stick it in the new one? Will it work? Please, if anyone knows the answer, please help me!!!

P.S: I'm trying to do this without my parents finding out. I have my own pocket money so that's not a problem.

I dropped my iPhone 6 from 50cm, only 7 days from new and the entire screen shattered from the impact on the corner. The good news is the phone is still fully functional, other than the screen (which I can still read but the glass is so shattered that the plastic screen protector is basically holding all of the shards in place.

I called Apple in my Australian city and the guy told me that iPhone 6 screen can NOT be replaced and that I would need a new phone. I was like hang on, that can't be true so after Googling I have learned that many people are paying around $109 for a new screen which seams very reasonable.

The guy from Apple told me about this and I told him I was not offered it/ aware of it. Too bad now my phone is obviously damaged and not fit for Apple Care +.

I bought my phone from Myer (department store) and I was NOT offered any extended warranty, Apple Care or Apple Care +. I have purchased this for my Macbook and iPad previously but the lack of the retailer up-selling me, I honestly forgot that it existed and was just super eager to get my new device home.

I will call Amex tomorrow and see if they can cover any cost for repair/ replacement but I really will be extremely disappointed if after owning nearly every iPhone and having much bigger drops - and many of them - and no broken glass, it does seem the 6 is much more susceptible to breakage.

Here is hoping the genius will value my custom and replace my screen (or phone) at under $200 Aussie clams.

By then my Lifeproof case would have arrived too. lol
