bot issue on iPhone 5s running latest ios
I'm at my wits end with this issue. It seems both ATT and Apple can't help me. It started a year ago with my apple iPhone 4s. I stopped receiving and being able to send iMessages when i was not on wifi right in the middle of a conversation. I thought it was just the network, but after a few hours and a few resets it persisted. I also was noticing my internet seemed not to load websites. I spent 2 months on the phone every day with either Apple or ATT trying to solve the problem. If I was on wifi my phone worked perfectly, but after about 10 min of being off of a wifi network it would stop working. We also noticed only about half of my text messages were coming in. I reset the phone, rest the network, changed the sim card, reset my phone as new. I lost all my music from the last 10 years, pics and videos that i thought were backed up and plenty of other things I was very upset about. I literally did everything except buying a new phone.
In february I bought the iPhone 5s. I bought it on vacation b/c i was not receiving any text messages and I couldn't take it any more. I set the phone up from my cloud back up in the store. My apps were restored through wifi network in the store. The phone worked perfectly the entire time I was on vacation. About a week later I got the error code stating me iMessage wouldn't go through. My new phone reverted back to the issue my old phone had. Internet ran slow not on wifi and no messages would go through or were received. Once again I went through all the steps of resetting, changing out the sim card, rebooting. I spoke with someone at apple and he was actually very helpful. He suggested that I reset my phone as new from a computer. I currently have a macbook running the latest software. So I reset the phone as new and my phone issue was "solved" so we thought. I was now able to send iMessages and receive them not on wifi network.
I started noticing other issues with the phone almost immediately. I didn't put two and two together for quite a while. Whenever I was off wifi I would get a "capcha" request from google that I had to enter before using it. I also noticed that websites were still not loading, or taking 5x longer than normal. A bunch of my apps were also not working. The two big ones with constant reproducible errors are pinterest and snapchat. Pinterest starting telling me that i had a bot running on my network, and my snapchats would just not go through. Various other apps wouldn't work (wouldn't open, couldn't log in, would time out, wouldn't get messages, etc) and i was never able to play fb videos if i clicked on them. I began calling ATT and Apple again and they kept insisting that it was the other parties fault. It got to the point I decided to just deal with it because I generally always have wifi. I was in the mall in July and went to an apple store. I spent two hours with someone who took the time to look it up. The error codes that I'm getting are basically stating there is malicious networking coming from my IP address. But I'm on a cell phone. Which means it's not a static IP address. It changes with location and this occurs no matter where I'm at. I contacted ATT to see if they could reset my IP address, and that's a no go. I've once again gone through all the steps of resetting and rebooting and restarting and changing out the sim chart. Nothing could be done. I gave up.
I recently got an iPad mini and wanted to set up a personal hotspot from my phone. My plan allows me to do so but no matter what I did or ATT did my phone kept telling me to contact my network provider. Basically we found a new issue the old issue was creating and revisited the problem. After all possibilities were exhausted from ATT I was directed to getting a new phone. So i went to the apple store. It was covered under warranty and they gave me a new phone. I did not want to transfer the problem so I set it up as new from the get go. I downloaded all apps from the internet through wifi. I have never hooked it up to my computer, and have not used a backup to set up my phone. My personal hotspot was working as soon as the phone was turned on. I've been able to use all apps on my phone for the last week. My internet has been working perfectly and faster than I've ever seen. I was in heaven!
And then yesterday one week after getting the phone my internet would not load any website while i was out and about. I was perusing pinterest and i got the "bot" warning. I immediately tried again to get on a website and i got the capcha request page, and all the apps that normally wouldn't work are no longer working again. I don't know what to do. I've been through 3 phones. 2 iPhone 5s, 1iphone 4s. numerous sim cards. many restarts, reboots and resets, and nothing seems to work. I just want to be able to use my phone appropriately and be able to access the internet and apps like i should be able to.
I do have photos on my phone that I can post later. I'm also going to try and connect to the hotspot on my iPad and see if i can recreate the problem there, which I'm assuming would happen. I'm just not sure how I can figure this out. I can't change an IP address with a cell phone company, no one can, not even the company. I was hoping someone here could give me some ideas or maybe they've heard of this happening to someone else who knows how to fix it. I don't want to change cell phone companies or switch from an iPhone.
