I lost my iPod touch somewhere. I got a mail today, saying that someone tried to login into FaceTime using my lost iPod. I want to trace the ip address of the person who logged in. Is it possible to know it?

I'm afraid there's no way of finding this out. It wouldn't do you a lot of good anyway. Did you set up 'Find My iPod' on it before it was lost? If so you may be able to locate it by going to icloud.com and to the Find My iPhone page. If you didn't set it up there is no action you can take.

One more info, I want to have is that, I need the serial number of the lost iPod in order to register it as lost in the local Police Station. I am afraid, I don't have all the papers(iPod is almost 4-5 years old). Anyway, I can get the serial number of the iPod online using Apple Id?
If you know the IP address yo can goive that to the police and they MAY help. If the IP address is known then one can find who owns that number Like Comcast. The police can contact them and fine out who had that IP address at the time. Only the police can do that or if yo can get a court order.
In any event, I doubt the police will do that because of the small cost of your loss.
