MB Pro has recently started running slow...Please Advise

Thanks for taking the time to review my thread.

My MB Pro has recently started to randomly crash, causing the machine to restart. It has also been running very slowly. I have cleared the start up, hoping this would eliminate my issues, but the machine continues to crash and operate slowly.

Below you will find my Etresoft report...please advise.

Thank you for your time,

Keith F.

You don't have enough RAM installed for what you have running. Get rid of these:

I would like to ad to Kappy:

He meant you to uninstall Taptun and Blackberry. Even with more Ram that will cause problems.

After each proposal hereafter, restart the mac.

-- I see you have the Genieo malware !! See on thesafemac.com site how to get rid of that. VERY important!!

-- You also have to remove all Safari extensions, forever.

--And you have to remove the two plugins in the User InternetPlugins folder:

Babelgum and MoveMyMediaplayer:

in Finder click the GO menu, hold the Alt(option) key and choose Library, in there open the InternetPlugins folder, delete the two.

-- Uninstall the WesternDigital "Smartware" software, and remove the entry from SystemPreferences->Users/accounts->LoginItems, with the minus sign underneath. And make sure that it is gone from the SystemPreferences. Very important !!

-- Uninstall Cleverfiles software (diskdrill, ea), does nothing for you than already is in OS.

Then I propose to uninstall Google Chrome, resource leaker and unsafe. When you want some other browser than Safari, use Firefox or Opera: fast and safe.

tbirdvet,

happy that you agree 😁

Chrome: when you have enough resources, you may not notice it. But there still is the safety to consider, and the files that are installed without you knowing and without asking you and are there to collect data on your mac and that look every second to see if there is maybe an update for google software. Best example the google keystone launch daemon, see a lot of threads here. and google for this file. Also read thesafemac.com.
