Where are the Home and End keys etc. on a "short" keyboard.

I have got a cheap Bluetooth "Apple rip-off" keyboard.

How do you get the Home and End effect?

I've tried fn and the arrow keys but they don't do it.

Is there a pdf with a list of keystrokes for the short type of keyboards?

I am sorry, I was leaving in a hurry and did not try it fully. Indeed in my mac the Fn-left goes to the beginning of the timeline.

To test whether it is the keyboard that is not working or some setting in FCP X, open the Command Editor.

When I press Fn, the sign on left arrow key changes to a diagonal arrow pointing NW. Do you see something like it?

Thanks for the suggestions Luis.

I am coming to the conclusion that the fn key on my generic Bluetooth keyboard does not work with the Mac OS.

An hour ago I read something to that effect but I can't find the article any more!

It does not work as a function key, perhaps, but it does have an effect.

Pressing the left arrow key alone in FCP X moves one frame left, while pressing Fn-left arrow moves to the beginning of the clip. There is a difference.

Since this last behavior coincides with Cmd-Ctrl-left arrow, I am conjecturing that maybe Fn in this keyboard is equivalent to Cmd-Ctrl.

This conjecture should be easy to test. Just locate other keyboard shortcuts with Cmd-Ctrl and see if they work with Fn instead.

A good example: put the cursor over a word, and hit Cmd-Ctrl-D: this gives you the Dictionary and wikipedia entries for that word. Do you get the same with Fn-D?

I've not made very extensive tests and I may be doing it incorrectly but it appears that the fn key has very limited use.

The key (with a square symbol) at the top left of the keyboard (where esc is normally found) also appears to have no function, but when both it and fn are pressed it acts like an esc key in certain circumstances, such as escaping from FCP X full screen playback mode.

Anyway, as a workaround Home and End key I can use the left and right arrows and simply hold them down.

The cursor then moves at high speed to either end of the timeline in 2 or 3 seconds.
