I dont know how I ended up with a username that advertises both my name and city of residence (I would never choose such a name if I knew it would be posted publicly), but for privacy reasons I'd like to set my forum username to something that isn't so personal. Searching the forums has led me to believe that there is no way for users to do this, but that mods might be able to assist me. How can I contact a moderator to request a change of username?
You cannot change your own user name, it requires a forum host to do it. There is already someone with the username Tys0n. Open your profile and replace nkgkpsg in the URL with alternate names you might like to use. Use + instead of a space if needed. If the username already exists you'll see the profile, otherwise you get something like this:

For some bizarre reason, I see that my user name is part of a family member's email address from years ago. I have no idea how that happened but I would like to change my user name to BetsyG. Thanks. 🙂
TT2, I checked and they changed the wrong things. Also, I found out that "huggybear" wasn't available anyway.

Each forum username is associated with a particular email address. Your Pamoola55 identity has been involved in about 10 threads over 5 years. Pamoola's isn't following any. If that is also your account then you need to sign into it with the right credentials. If you want your username for this login to read something other than pamelafromoak park then you'll need to pick a new username that nobody else is using.
Your own username appears at the top of every page so you can access your profile and make changes.

I received an email that my username was changed as requested (thank you for that) but when I look at my profile settings and my posts, I still see my full name as showing.
The email (that does not permit responses) said to mention this when responding to the email...

I have this same issue - as evidenced by my username, and much to my embarrassment, I just randomly punched in a non-sensical line of letters and numbers! I happened to be signed in with my Apple ID on another tab on my browser and I had no idea that this was setting up a username 😟

I have the exact same issue, and from all replies it seems to be either impossible or implicitly accessible.
I first logged into the forum 7 years ago back in China, and I have no idea why my username consists of my firstname and my city of origin. None of the settings seem to be able to change this.
How? It happens because the sign-up page suggested an option of <Name> from <Location> as a possible username, although you're free to choose an alternative if you prefer. Are asking about changing yours?

I agree, this is totally absurd on Apple's part. Look how many people want to change their flippin username. It could take all of five seconds to do but we have to write a request for it to get done? Neither, but this one is closer - they have been alerted via a reporting system that is available to Level 2 and above
