Thunderbolt to HDMI doesnt work

I'm having trouble setting up dual monitor for my video editing work, I'm using LG (24MP76) as 2nd monitor hooking up to iMac (12,2) i5

Using thunderbolt to HDMI cable. It doesn't work at all, iMac doesnt pick up and LG kept searching then shut down to energy mode.

Any idea how to solve this problem and quick please

Thanks

Hello bigant06,

Start your troubleshooting with the article below. Go through and test with a different cable if you have one as well as resetting the SMC and PRAM. If you are still having issues, let me know and I may be able to help you further.

Gday Norm G

I have solved the problem yesterday, after going reading countless forums by others. Tried different things PRAM and all that.

This what fixed the problem,

In display menu, hold down option button then slowly plug in HDMI. boom it works. Works no problem after that.

Funny thing is in display menu still says devices not detected. But still works.

Cheers
