I know how to record a slide presentation using Keynote but I would like to record my mouse cursor movements over the slide during the presentation. At the moment, I can see see the mouse cursor and manipulate it but it does not carry over to the recording. Does anyone know if this can be done?
I have a MacBook Pro with 10.10 and Keynote 6.5.

I have suggested two applications that will record the mouse in Keynote, QuickTime and Screencast. You say that doesn't answer the question, if it does not you need to explain why.
I also use iShowU from Tinywhite box and Camtasia because of the extensive editing tools, these are used to create professional interactive training video. You can search the Mac App Store or Google for alternatives.
Because the original question was asking if it could be done in Keynote - not with the use of other applications. So, from what I gather then answer must be no and that I have to use other applications. Keynote allows you to record your lecture and it takes note of slide progression. You can also restart the audio recording of a slide if you make a mistake so you don't need to get it all right in one go. The only thing is that it doesn't have an option to point to images on the slide during the presentation such that is visible in the output screenplay. This is important because I want to record lectures for students.
When you switch to QuickTime or Screencast - you cannot run the Keynote presentation such that you can also record animations that you have incorporated into the slide. The point is to record the lecture presentation exactly as it is in Keynote but with the option to point to items in the slide. I'll keep searching for the answer but I appreciate your suggestions and I will look into it. Camtasia seems like a good tool.
Open Quicktime Player then: File > New Screen Recording, then follow the onscreen instructions
No - the problem is not solved. The mouse cursor movements do not record in Keynote. That's the question I was asking. If you don't have an answer - that's cool but don't pretend to offer an answer that doesn't answer the question.
No way. Unfortunately. The options people are offering to you are "post production". That's the only way.
Then use screencast as you already have that, problem solved.
Thanks Gary - that's useful. However, is it possible to do it in Keynote. Keynote allows you to screencast your presentations and has more usability than Quicktime but it doesn't copy over the mouse cursor movements. I'm assuming that this doesn't exist for Keynote and that I will have to do without.
