Adwaremedic is it safe ?

Hello everyone .. I would like to ask if the adwaremedic program is the safest way to remove adware from the mac. Lately I m having some pop up advertisements from a specific site called mac keeper. I have no idea how this ad came up since I am not downloading torrents nor visiting any suspicious site .

So is this the only way to permanently remove the adware? Is it safe , since this is a third party program? Thanks in advance everyone

thomas r, thank you for a straight forward and profesional way to clean the adware malware my children downloaded trying to get 'mods' for minecraft without my permission. It really was a nightmare and ads and safari went berserk. I started with Linc Davis and I have tio say nothing was as stated and was just getting ridiculous. I then read reviews about your app from another computer, did what you say ..and bingo .....its fantastic, cant thank you enough for your dedication to the cause to root out this filth. I recomed anyone with adware troubles to give thomas r a go and save a h..l of a lot of unnecessary time and stress.......well worth a donation as well to suport his good work. Thanks mqd.

I have found thomas r and is Adwaremedic fix brilliant and believe in his full integrity and time given to help others.

Linc I do find you omnipotent and a bit patronising towards Thomas, if you find this insulting it may be that judging from some of your previous reply's you may infact be as insecure as a lot of the computers people are trying to fix. Respect to all and keep up the good work - thanks to all. mqd

Thank you sir. The ads and pop ups where killing me. I was about to make a geek appointment. I was skeptical [downloading now days is like playing roulette with your system]. Bottom line is it worked [minimal clicks] and my system is up and running without the mess and back to speed. Thanks again and keep doing what you do. Many Thumbs Up! Peace ➕🙂

AdwareMedic solved my problem. I really appreciate this application and the best part is that is easy and fast to process. I wish everyone knows about this because Apple should help its customers solve problems like this without excessive fees. I just wish that Apple should take into consideration that customers need help solving problems like this with their guidance and not charging us for their help. Thank you AdwareMedic creator for such an amazing application.

Hi

I've been having serious adware problems for the last week - since installing MacKeeper (ironically)!

I tried everything I could find on Apple's site - all to no avail. Finally I found, downloaded and ran AdwareMedic. It worked a treat - very quickly found a large number of adware files and allowed me to remove them all with a single click. Since then I've had no problems. I would recommend AdwareMedic wholeheartedly. It is donation ware which is great because you can run it for free before deciding if it's worth the donation - from my experience it was worth a decent donation!

Bee - OK, it was just that I got the Mackeeper stuff the first time I opened up Safari 8 - first screen (after installing Yosemite), so I thought it was Apple approved or recommended. My thinking was that Apple were providing links to software suppliers instead of charging for the upgrade, as they used to. My mistake, but thanks to AdwareMedic I'm all fixed now.

I've searched every file and folder search y'all have referenced throughout this thread. I've also searched every file noted on apple support at Remove unwanted adware that displays pop-up ads and graphics on your Mac - Apple Support

I have found nothing. Yet I sometimes (not often) get the Mac Keeper pop-up. I've had the computer for less than a week. I've installed Adobe creative suite Photoshop and Lightroom, Viber, Skype, and TurboTax 2014(from app store). Nothing else. I'm lost and any help would be appreciated.
