?? - kim, this is a good effort (don't stop contributing) - BUT - that path has 7 steps - 5 'choices' & 2 question 'answer fields'

IT IS, in fact, the most direct route to scheduling a PHONE CALL, a CHAT - OR - choosing a Genius reservation.

The most direct route to a Genius Reservation is the "Apple Store App" > Apple Store on the App Store on iTunes

On the web, start here for the path of least resistance > Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar < this path 'knows' that Genius reservation is your goal, rather than giving you other communication choices.

keep up the good work!

from what previously was easy, making a Genius reservation, the new process is IMPOSSIBLE and for some reason apple is happy that the user experience has now completely imploded - spent 20 minutes trying to work out how to make a reservation online - what a disaster, apple does everything in its power to confuse and make the appointment booking process hard to find. Eventually went to t-mobile store and they solved it - an F score for apple on this count - please fix it for other users

Apple Watch can't connect over wifi anymore. Just tried to make a Genius Bar appointment online. Can't do it anymore. They kick you over to a phone or chat with Apple. Ok, I'll play your game, Apple. Talking to a tech who claims the Apple Watch doesn't work over wifi. Told her she was full of it. Read the KB article directly to her. "If Bluetooth isn’t available, Apple Watch will try to use Wi-Fi," it says. Got kicked up to a senior tech who claimed the same thing. Read the same KB article to him. Good times, good times, Apple.

What is it that you are trying to do via Wifi on the Watch? Is the Wifi connection you are attempting to enable on the watch one that has been connected to via your phone already?

The only way the Apple Watch can connect to Wifi is by using a Wifi Connection that the iPhone it is paired with has previously connected to.

When the Apple Watch is connected to Wifi it can only do the following things:

If your Apple Watch and iPhone are on the same network but aren’t connected by Bluetooth, you can also do the following on Apple Watch without iPhone:

  • Send and receive messages using iMessage
  • Send and receive Digital Touch messages
  • Use Siri

So, making a Genius Bar appointment is not one of those things....

See where I say "anymore" above. That sort of answers your question.

Yes, via wifi. "...Apple Watch will try to use Wi-Fi,"

So you and I agree that the Watch uses wifi. For an Apple Support tech to claim otherwise tells us the level of training Apple is giving their staff these days.
