Email doesn't delete on iPad after deletion by iMac or iPhone

My iPad 3rd Gen 64Gb running iOS8.1.1 steadfast;y refuses to delete emails that have already been deleted from another device or iCloud or update them as moved or read, and I have to go in and remove/move them manually. iPhone 6+ and 2014 27" iMac both work with each other and iCloud perfectly, deleting and marking as read or moving files about in folders. The other devices respond to what has happened on the iPad.

With iPhone 6+ I am finding the iPad next to redundant and this issue is fast speeding a disposal decision!

If anyone can advise I would be most grateful.

I have this same question for iPad 2, with iPhone 4S (iOS 8.1.1) and Mac (osx 10.7.5)

I use Mail for multiple IMAP accounts, including Gmail, both on iPhone and iPad.

When I delete a message on my Mac, it deletes from my phone and vice versa. But the iPad keeps all messages in the inbox, so I have thousands of "unread" messages. Very annoying and frustrating. I can't believe it's necessary to go in and manually remove them all...

I Accidentally found the solution. If you go into settings, mail and check the Trash box is ticked as on server, not on the device. Even if it is ticked on the server, tick it onto the device, save it. Go back in and then tick it back onto the server and save it again. Do the same with any other iOS devices (not your Mac) and after a few minutes everything starts working again As it should.
