IPHONE 6 Fast Battery Drain Ios 8.1.1

Dear All,

I bought an iphone 6 few days ago with full pride thinking that just because i have an iphone 6, I'm not going to face anymore problems, but i was wrong.

At first i was using ios 8.0.2 and I was experiencing fast battery drains; my total usage time was surprisingly less than 7 hours. I thought to myself the problem is from the software; after updating to ios 8.1.1, the same problem still exists; having very fast battery drains.

Please inform if this is a software or hardware issue and what are the solutions to this.

Thanks for the prompt response,

Hassan

I can tell you I am on my second iphone 6 and i have battery drain issues. My first one worked fine until I did the update to the current version. My phone can be 100% charged before I go to bed and when I wake up (no apps running in the background), it is at 18%. However, other family members have the same phone and have no issues. I have been researching on the apple support communities board and there are alot of different posts from people having the same issues. I got a new phone yesterday and did not backup from the cloud, but used as a new phone and did not setup anything - the phone is set with all of the default apple settings and NO addt'l apps installed. Again 100% at 9:30pm and 18% at 6:30am. Guess its time for my 3rd trip to the Apple store.

Starting to be disappointed in my new phone.

Shocked by all the feedback in this thread. I literally thought I was the only one with this issue. I'm immensly disappointed because I got an iPhone 6 for this Christmas (I've been wanting an iphone for years. This was my very first time having an iphone) and I get this issue. Battery is immensly draining. The game I play on my iPad, which is vainglory, drains a lot less battery than it does on my phone. I'm currently charging my phone to 100% and leave it in stand by until 6:00am (when i wake up) and see how much battery drains. Very disappointed.

Edit: I left it in standby for 8 hours and it only drained like 6%.... but I KNOW i keep having this issue of battery drain. >.> hope apple fixes this asap.

To drain about 6% in 8 hours of stand by seems quite normal to me.

You may find that looking at Settings->General->Usage->Battery Usage can be very instructive - it lists the apps in order of battery usage. Maybe you have some app running background tasks that drains your battery.

Had issues syncing my music to my iPhone 6 128gb. It was stuck on "waiting for items to copy" or "waiting for changes to be applied" for hours. I tried changing some setting in iTunes this morning, and it didn't fix my sync issue, but seems to have triggered this battery drain bug. My phone drained from 95% to 65% on the drive in to work (25min) and got very hot. I then erased and reset everything at work and set it up as a new phone. Once that finished I was in the 40% range. I watched it continue to 35% before I put it in airplane mode and set it on my desk. I'm posting this 30min later and the phone is now at 14%.

Very very disappointed with my new phone.

The fact that the phone got very hot suggests that some app or system tool might be pushing the processor hard.

Putting it into airplane mode turns off most radio signals, like LTE and WiFi, which should save some power, but it does not turn off software that might be running on your phone.

There could well be a hardware problem, but I'm more inclined to think it is a software issue.

Did you go to Settings->General->Usage->Battery Usage and look at what apps made for the most battery usage?

you are definitely not alone. I actually am now on my 3rd iPhone and I thought the 3rd time was the charm. It was for about 4 days and now I am back to the same problem. I went to the Apple store again yesterday and they told me they found some roaming apps and had me delete them and see if that fixed the problem. First of all, this makes no sense because they are all the same apps I had on my 4s. Does this mean my 4s is better than the 6?!?!?! Secondly, that is clearly not the problem. Deleted those roaming apps yesterday, charged my phone 100% at 9:30pm and went to bed. Checked at 6:50am and my phone was at 29%...Clearly something is wrong or I have a magic fairy that uses my phone constantly throughout the night. All the battery diagnostics say nothing is wrong with the hardware, Apple please check your software!!! Going back again tonight. The Apple store Genius and manager are trying really hard to figure it out, but I feel like everyone is guessing at this point. I don't even want this phone anymore, I would be more than happy to go back to the 5 or even the 4s at this point.

so one of the technicians in the Apple store told me that too, so this 3rd iPhone 6 I have is from new. It worked for 4-5 days and now it has the draining issue again. I even took my time over the first two days slowly add apps, fingerprint, etc to see what may be causing the issue. It worked fine up until Sunday and now it is acting up again. Hope you have better luck!

It sure looks like some of the apps that you reinstalled may have been involved in this.

I understand that it is a pain, but maybe you need to set it as new again, and carefully log what you reinstall to figure out which app is the culrprit.

I was thinking that some of the apps and the 8.1.2 software may be the issue as well. I was going to install the apps one by one, but then decided not to. Here is why...(1) In order to really see what is causing the issue, I may have to wait days in between in install to see if I get the issue (because it took 4 days for this to happen), (2) ALL of these same apps worked with my 4s and if the 6 is suppose to be better, then I would EXPECT that I could use everything the same way I did, otherwise what is the purpose of having a "better" phone. I have the apps on my phone because I use them. If I can't use the apps, then why have the phone. I can go back to a 4s and have it all work the way it should. Just saying...

Dear all.

I am sure you are still frustrated with this issue like I am.

I want to share my news about installing iOS 8.2 beta 3.

OK guys.

BIG news on the problem we are having together.

A little pre-story first. I could not handle having the phone and having to be careful walking out of home and not having connection. I was so tired of this unnecessary problem!

So i started using my old iphone 4, which remarcably holds power for 48 h. But last night I came to a conclusion that the update of 8.1.3 we are so eager to get might not be that soon as i thought (I was expecting it on January 6th), so i decided to get iOS 8.2 beta 3.

The decision was made due to the idea in another forum, that someone had the same issue which disappeared after installing that particular beta. So I did it too.

The result is THE SAME. I can not hold my words anymore. What the ****?!

And this rises so many questions like whether this problem will consist in the future updates?

Jan 10, 2015 4:03 PM in response to hassan m.

This problem cropped up for me out of the blue three months into owning my iPhone 6. One day I came home with 70% battery and the next the battery was dead. I followed most of the suggestions here about resetting, etc. but my problem was different and worth a quick check if you still have this rapid battery drain problem.

In my case the issue was related to Keychain syncing and other devices using Keychain. If you don't have other devices syncing with Keychain read no further. If you do, open Activity Monitor on any Mac on which you are linked with your iCloud account. Click on the Memory tab and search for "secd" -- if that process is running and taking more than 100MB of memory kill it. You can do so from Activity Monitor or if you prefer, but typing this in Terminal:

launchctl stop com.apple.secd

launchctl start com.apple.secd

On any iOS devices that are linked to your iCloud account go into Settings > iCloud and turn off Keychain. Now do the same on your impacted iPhone.

I had two Macs on which secd was running out of control using 15GB+ of RAM. Killing those processes and then Keychain syncing on every other device connected to my iCloud account solved my problem.

The next day my iPhone came home with 85% battery full after a day at the office. Hope this helps.

Hello guys..

Today i got suddenly surprised that my IPHONE 6 is draining the battery very quickly since i have charged on yesterday night and got full charged and used upto 2 hrs and surprised that 30% down immediately and after that i didn't used then today just a 15 mins might be used but my battery comes to 8% now.

What the ******* is going on, I saw this many times and after its automatically standby 1 day.

Anyone can tell me why is this occurred?? I have updated to 8.1.2. update.

Rep me...soon...Kalidoss....
