IPHONE 6 Fast Battery Drain Ios 8.1.1

Dear All,

I bought an iphone 6 few days ago with full pride thinking that just because i have an iphone 6, I'm not going to face anymore problems, but i was wrong.

At first i was using ios 8.0.2 and I was experiencing fast battery drains; my total usage time was surprisingly less than 7 hours. I thought to myself the problem is from the software; after updating to ios 8.1.1, the same problem still exists; having very fast battery drains.

Please inform if this is a software or hardware issue and what are the solutions to this.

Thanks for the prompt response,

Hassan

I am having the exact issue with my iPhone6 on iOS 8.1.3. Went to the Genius Bar and was told that my battery usage was at 200% capacity. He told me to do a backup and restore my phone. I scheduled another appointment and took them my phone (still being factory reset minus logging into iCloud). Basically I was told on the second visit was as long as nothing was showing up bad, there was nothing he could do. He also told me that a 6 hour battery life in standby is normal. My 4s lasted longer than that.

Hi guys, for me Apple lost the value as it still had when I got my first iPhone 3G. I have my current iPhone for the 4th replaced thanks to AppleCare. I purchased it only, because problems with battery happened instantly after setting it up. Tomorrow-visit in Amsterdam and I claim money back. I paid 800€ and I feel like having a cheap toy. Seller has to obtain good quality of the product. Battery is the main source on the phone to keep it running, same as an engine in the car. By EU law after 3rd replacement I had already right to claim my money back or new product. Will do that now. So disappointed. Hope more people will follow me and Apple will wake up. Competition - thank you!

LUis you are talking about a time b4 ios 8.1.1 release! You need to go your homework here.

I am running 8.1.1 on my old iPhone 4s - zero problems. It is slowish, but that is to be expected from a 3+ years model on a current OS.

My daughter is running 8.1.1 on her iPhone 6, and she is ecstatic about her new device.

Anyway, I was responding to someone who has been returning his phones for battery issues. My main point is that it is unlikely to be a hardware problem when the new phone, and the one after that, also suffer the same symptoms.

If you say the problem is caused by 8.1.1, then this means that it is a software, not hardware problem - meaning that exchanging phones is not going to solve anything. Basically, you make the same point.

Now regarding customer satisfaction: of course anyone suffering these debilitating problems has good reasons not to be pleased. It is no consolation to those afflicted, but the fact remains they are very small minority.

Solution to iphone overheating and excessive battery drain problem

Guys, I had the same problem. My iphone worked fine about 1 month then suddenly started to overheat a lot and battery drains very fast. It was so hot, specially when WIFI was on, that I have to put it on stand-by after just 3-4 minutes to let it cool down.

I also noticed this happened after I installed/removed some game. The iphone overheats a lot when on 4G/LTE and/or WIFI. Did a few tests (jailbroken, hehe), installed a logger and found out the cause.

Location service on 3G/WIFI used hardly by icloud and system services like iAds. Also the so called "product Improvement" which is an Adware installed by Apple for diagnostic purpose but in fact keeps records about what you do. Even when location service is OFF, these trackers work in background using NAND to write the logs, as soon as you connect to WIFI or 3G is on, those logs are uploaded.

Now, what to do.

1. Go to Settings>Privacy>Location Services, turn it on to see all details, then Open System Services and disable Locatino Service for:

-Location-Based Alerts

-Location-Based iAds

-WIFI networking (this drains a lot and is useless)

Product Improvement (Hm, ain't Apple guinea pigs)

-Diagnostics & Usage

-Popular near me

-Routing and Traffic

-Improve Maps

As soon as you disable the above list, turn off the Location Service and keep it off unless you use the Maps or Navigation Apps, etc.

I also disabled the icloud completely as I find it useless for me but you can use it with maximum privacy settings (no automatically merging documents.or images, chose exactly what you allow icloud upload from your phone).

Finally, reboot your iphone (turn off and on). And all will work flawleslly

My iphone 6 runs 8.1.1 btw.. No problemo anymore.

Same problem but after a number of tweaks, Wono's suggestion of resetting all settings was the only one that worked. I'm on iPhone 6 with iOS 8.2.

Just a word of caution: you don't lose data but have to re-enable a few settings – I had to add wifi password for all the networks I connected automatically to, reset my ring tone, email notification settings etc – and am also having an iMessage issue where one of my contacts can't send me iMessages on my number but to other email addresses. But very happy to work through these for the price of regaining battery performance.

My new beautiful iPhone 6 is only a month old and the batter was draining like crazy!! 😟 Had to charge multiple times a day. Was ready to return/exchange when decided to check in old Apple support and low and behold....did the reset all settings and seems to be working MUCH better. You do have to reenter passwords, ring tones changed, etc. But at least it seems to be fixed. Will keep fingers crossed!!

I have observed when i am using Bluetooth to connect a head phone and listen itunes radio, the iphone generates lots of heat and quicker battery drain.

This happened only when i am using the phone on T-Mobile network. Upon removing the SIM and reset the network settings and run with no SIM, and listen to itunes Radio with a Bluetooth headphone, no heat generates and no quicker battery drain. It seems something with network carrier configurations that get loaded when put the SIM. Looks like Cell-phone service providers are screwing it up. Not the Manufacturer (Apple). But i cannot say for sure whether it is cellphone carrier or Apple, but just saying what i observed.

Hello All, (Battery Problem Solution and Fix)

I would like to share my experience with my battery drainage. I bought an iphone 6 on February 28, 2015, as soon that it was plugged in the dock for recharging, the battery was very hot. This was the first sign, then I noticed when I was sleeping for 8 hours, my iphone 6 would stay on sleep mode and it will lose 35% of battery when I used to lose 3% of my 4S battery. For me there was no doubt a battery problem. I chat directly with apple support, who keep running some diagnostics and keep telling me to update my iphone 6 and claim that it will fix all. Here are the steps they told to me follow:

1) Update to newest ios, then Backup

2) Restore as new iphone, Let it run all out the battery until the iphone shuts down

3) Then recharge at 100%

4) Since the iphone was restored as a new one, do not yet backup, monitor the usage battery FOR A DAY

5) Then next day, backup your personal data on it and monitor the usage

Even after doing all theses steps my battery problem still persists so I went in person to an apple store where they completely replace my iphone 6 with another new iphone 6 (and the problem finally was fixed) The apple agent keeps telling me that my battery drainage was normal and all tests he has done were all passed by my iphone 6, however he said he may be wrong.

Data collected! (ALL IN HOURS)

1) IOS 8.1.3 Usage= 3:44 Standby= 14:27

2) IOS 8.3 Usage = 3: 20 Standby = 14:20

3) IOS 8.3 Usage = 5:59 Standby= 24:10 **** (iphone 6 replaced by a new one from apple store) CLEARLY HUGE DIFFERENCE 🙂

* during the sleep mode over the night it loses only 5% not anymore 35%

MY ADVICE IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCE BATTERY DRAINAGE, REQUEST AN IPHONE 6 REPLACEMENT, WORK FOR ME BECAUSE RESTRAINING ALL THE LOCATIONS FEATURES AND BLABLA ISNT A SOLUTION !! =D

HOPE IT HELPS 😎
