Adobe CS3 Compatibility with Yosemite

I own Adobe's CS3. I run it on a 27 inch 2010 Intel IMac with OS 10.6.8. I want to upgrade to Yosemite, but I need to know that Adobe CS3 will run on Yosemite. I have been unable to get a direct answer from Adobe.

Last night I upgraded to Yosemite and when I attempted to run CS3 it prompted me to update Java as well. I followed the prompts and downloaded it and then restarted Illustrator. It was a little slow at first (taking about 5 minutes to reboot) but eventually it opened and I was able to begin working on projects that I started before the update. I have not used Photoshop yet, but I'm assuming that will need a little time to reboot as well. But I don't think it will have too many problems. Eventually, I will upgrade to CS6 this year so I won't have to worry about these issues, but for now the Java plugin seemed to do the trick.

I have upgraded to Yosemite and read the info on this forum but I am still unable to have Dreamweaver cs3 launch. I get a message: Adobe Updater quit unexpectedly." I try "reopening" but it just returns the same message. I get an extremely long page of data, "Problem Details and System Configuration" but have no idea how to read it or what it means.

Any suggestions?

The current version of Java SE 6 from Apple should allow Adobe apps that require Java to install and run. (It's still needed for CS6 apps!)

However: CS3 is 8 years old: even if it does work on Yosemite, we've got El Capitan coming out in a couple of months, and the next version of OS X after that will definitely break it if EC doesn't.

I would advise anyone who doesn't want to get locked into Adobe's ransomware subscription contract to look for modern alternatives by other developers. Already apps like Affinity Design and Affinity Photo have been hailed as professional apps that are serious competitors to Illustrator and Photoshop respectively. (Disclaimer: satisfied customer of these products.)

Other apps are capable of doing the work.

For those running CS3 with Yosemite or El Capitan, did you install CS3 fresh or was it already on a machine and you upgraded the OS? I just upgraded my desktop and want to do a fresh install. Currently run on my MacBook Pro under 10.6.8 and want to make sure I will still be able to use it on that if I also put on my desktop. I can't get a straight answer from Adobe.

Thanks in advance

I had to do a fresh install after the upgrade because it quit working. The update hosed something. For me. OMMV.

Works fine except that Adobe Updater keeps crashing when one of the main apps loads. Haven't taken the effort to learn how to turn it off. I just dismiss the crash and go on my merry way. PS and ID work great. Haven't used AI in a while.
