ios 8.1.1 wifi problems

I have installed ios 8.1.1 on my iphone 6.

The iphone still looses wifi connectivity from time to time. If I enable and disable flight mode wifi is working again.

I already tried to reset the network settings as well as resetting the complete iphone. Nothing helped.

I've hoped ios 8.1.1 would solve this issue. But it doesn't. This is really annoying.

I have an iPhone 4S and installed 8.1.1 and about once a week I lose connectivity to my wifi although it says it's connected to both that and cellular service. I turn wifi off and on again and it doesn't help. I also turned airplane mode off and on and that doesn't work. The only way to get it working again is to reboot the phone.

This problem also happened to my iPhone5S. Please see scenarios/events as itemized below

  • WiFi drops regardless of location (home or office network)
  • WiFi drops regardless if iPhone is on sleep or active.
  • Having been updated to IOS 8.1.1, the problem has become very often. (4-6 times in an hour)
  • This problems occurs regardless of the app you are actively using.
  • Made the phone to reboot but problem still persist.

Hope we get a light in this issue. Cheers!

Sadley this is not just an Iphone 6 issue, its an IOS8 issue all flavors..

I have three iPhones all 5s, and IPad mini retina and three Apple TV's

Prior to the IOS 8 release wifi was incredible, reliable and perfect.

but ever since the IOS release my devise suck when on wifi, as mentioned connection dropped losing connectivity, all but disappears and then reappears and I have to reconfigure the connection and many times it refuses connection until I restart wifi then if im lucky it will allow me to connect again.

so I buy and Iphone 6, it also ***** when using wifi. Its not just at home but at work and pretty much any access point.

so its definitely IOS 8. version 8.1.1 did not fix it, factory rest does not fix it resetting the network connection does not fix it..

even my Apple TV's drop wifi connection.. I am in a Apple wifi nightmare..

I have invested a lot of time and MONEY in apple.. I don't want to leave, but they need to stop hiding the fact that they messed up and provide an update.. Steve would not allowed this to happen and for so long.

APPLE please release another patch and don't say its just to fix the older idevices.. fess up an make this right!

Fix IOS 8 please.. currently my apple devices are unreliable and no longer a dream to own..

thank you..

I have given up hope at this point. I have installed every "patch" on my iphone 6 and the problem is exactly the same as before the update. I have to turn cellular data off as soon as I get home or the wifi drops constantly. The wifi symbol will be present and it "looks" like it's connected. But if you try to get online, it is the spinwheel of doom. Nothing. So you have to go through the toggling, "forgetting", resetting, etc. I don't know what has happened where the wifi is concerned. I had zero problems w/ my iphone 5 on ios 7. I have an ipad air on ios 7 and I REFUSE to install ios 8 out of fear of ruining the device. I have resigned myself to the fact that my next phone will have to be a Samsung and maybe my next tablet too. Steve Jobs would never have allowed this mess to occur on his watch.

This is the exact issue I am having with my iPhone 6 on 8.1.1. Happens every few days for me. Turning off Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > Wi-fi Networking did non fix the issue. The only fix I have found so far is to reboot the phone.

I recently updated my iPhone 4S to software version 8.1.1. after that wifi is not working, not scanning the devices, no wifi icon is displayed on the home screen. i have use only cellular network.

i did re-installing the software using iTunes, reset the network settings restarting the phone. Nothing solves my problem.

wifi was working with older software versions. i think there should be a problem with 8.1.1.

is anyone has fix for this issue?

One potential fix I found.

Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services. Turn off Wifi Networking. It doesn't disable wifi, it just disables the location services portion of wifi. Also, turn off AirDrop. I read an article where a lot of these problems are when the phone is trying to get a location using wifi, and when it's looking for other nearby wifi devices (probably part of the new handoff features). So far it's working for my iPhone 6 and iPad Air, just switched this morning though. Fingers crossed.

I am having similar issues but I believe the problem is deeper than just a WiFi problem. I have an iPhone 5 and since the update, it just stops communicating data at all. The phone shows that it is connected to the WiFi network but simply is not getting any data through. I've seen this both on my home and work networks. The last time I had it happen, I turned off WiFi so that it would fall back to the cellular network. Even that did not work. I had no data there either. I've reset network settings and that works to regain sanity but it is not a permanent fix. It keeps happening. I have discovered that restarting the phone (turn it off and back on) regains sanity and things are OK until it happens again. The frustration for me is that the phone never shows a loss of connectivity. It looks like it's connected to the network the whole time. It just isn't talking to it.
