IOS 8.1.1 WiFi Problems after Update

Last night I updated the software on my ipad 4. After the update I had WiFi-problems. The network was always interrupted. Has anyone the same problems? Is there a solution? I am very grateful for an answer! I'm using an iPad 4. Thanks!

Oh my gosh!! I have the same problem with iPhone 4S after updating to 8.1 and to 8.1.1 Wi-Fi interrupts, cannot connect, wrong Apple ID, wrong wi-fi password, cannot connect to Apple Store, iTunes account cannot be verified, etc., etc. I tried different wi-fi networks and different routers - same result! All my other devices with iOS7, and not Apple devices are working properly with wi-fi networks. How many more people need to complain before Apple do something? A little hope but did you use Apple complain form: https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

displacedgothamist:

I did not expect this to help, and so far it seems that I was wrong. I did it about 20 hours ago and so far so good.

Here's some things that I noticed in my troubleshooting, and I think they might explain why it's OK now:

  • Restoring the iPad as a new device didn't fix it, but I connected to iCloud via LTE and I distinctly recall it reconfigured my wifi on its own, which I at the time thought was kind of cool, because it also restored wifi settings for places I frequent. Now I'm not so sure it was all that great.
  • When I reset networking on the iPad it also deleted all the wifi points on my iPhone 5s. That means that stored networks are shared across the iCloud account.

So what I think that means is that something in the stored wireless configuration was broken for the iPad that the iPhone could cope with. Resetting wireless configuration does seem to be doing the trick for me, as it's been stable much longer than updating 8.1.2 did. I'll let it go a couple more days and will post back, probably on Saturday or Sunday.

I too have a mini and it drops wifi all the time now. I should never have updated past 7, nothing but trouble since. I have it at home all the time on the same network and it works maybe half the time when before I could depend on it to at least deliver messages, now something that simple is impossible. Never again will I buy another Apple product.

Hi Turn your Router off for 30 Seconds when it's back on. Then on ipad Go to Settings Reset Network Settings. After Reset Enter your Router Wireless key. This may help. Sometimes this can be a Router problem The Router that you get from your I S P provider Sometime is only a basic one I got a top Range Netgear now And that is very stable. Also look on website for a Firmware upgrade for Your make of Router. Cheers Brian

I have only had issues with my Wifi since the 8.1 update and 8.1.1 is no better for me. I have tried everything from restarting my router to removing everything off my ipad and reinstalling it. My partner on the other hand did not update and his Wifi is 100%. Its this update and needs to be fixed or apple will loose so many customers, especially with Christmas around the corner and tablet sales going on.
