IOS 8.1.1 WiFi Problems after Update

Last night I updated the software on my ipad 4. After the update I had WiFi-problems. The network was always interrupted. Has anyone the same problems? Is there a solution? I am very grateful for an answer! I'm using an iPad 4. Thanks!

iPad, iOS 8.1

hello balrough i found some simple temporary fixes one is putting your phone on airplane mode do not disturb mode both on and turn off your i phone for a while then turning it back on and going to settings privacy location services system services (the location services need to be turned on) then turn off the WiFi networking then go to general reset and reset network settings and there if it doesn't work do the steps in a different order first reset network settings the do the privacy thing

All my other devices are woking fine with WiFi: Wii, PS4, Dell Latitude, Motorola MotoG, video decoder, including iPhone 4S still with iOS7. All of them show high WiFi signal. But my iPad 2 is showing low signal an struggling to maintain conection since I upgraded to 8.1.1. And I suspect I would get the same effect if I upgrade the iPhone also. How can you conclude there are router problems? Ridiculous

I will never buy Apple any more. That programmed obsolescence is so obvious...

I updated my iPad mini today to 8.1.1 and my wifi doesn't work anymore, it even failed during the update asking to connect to iTunes.

After connecting to iTunes it went ok, but wifi doesn't work.

My iPad is 3 months old and screen is cracked and apple is refusing to fix the wifi, as they need to replace it. Refusing that this is a software issue.

Like buying a car and having cracked window, and dealer refusing to fix the broken engine.

This is the answer from apple store manager in Montreal, Canada for my argument:

- well, if you cannot open the hood of the car then you cannot fix the engine, and I cannot give you a new car for that, you need to pay for the new car if you want replacement.

So if apple cannot fix the problems under the warranty because they cannot "open the hood", then it's not my problem.

Very disappointed with the service they gave me today, I have a lot of apple products at home 2 MBPs, 2 iPhones, 2 iPads and apple TVs.

It's absolutely not the router's fault when all the other PCs in my house and my 2012 Mac Mini running Mavericks have no issues. It's just the iPhone 5s and iPad Mini retina. It seems to be somewhat alleviated with 8.1.1 but it's definitely still happening. It's a Linksys/Cisco EA4500 802.11n router. It's obvious to me that Apple is only testing with Airport Extreme Base Stations and not bothering to test on some of the most popular routers available today, which is just stupid. I knew I should have bought a Nexus 7 and a Galaxy S5. :-/

Same problem and Apple has been unable to fix it. They said they will replace the device. Even after 10 days, they didn't do a single thing. They said they are unable to find fault so might keep the device for more time. I said please cancel my order as you guys wouldn't fix any issue and my work is badly paused coz of my device being away.

I regret buying Apple and if there's any nomination for worst brand, Apple gets my vote.

In the end, two words for APPLE: HORRIBLE AND TERRIBLE

There is a bug in iOS 8 that made many Apple devices unable to connect to Wi-Fi after updating to iOS 8. The only common path among those devices is that all issues related to Wi-Fi connection came out after updating to IOS 8 or iOS 8.1.1.

There are as many threads about this issue as you can imagine in the Apple Support Community and other web places, that it seems unbelievable that Apple keeps on denial (absolute silence) about it.

I own three Iphone 5, two of them "survived" the update to iOS 8 and they can connect normally to Wi-Fi after it. The third Iphone 5 only connects if I am less than 1 meter from the router. Beyond that I get a password error and no connection to Wi-Fi. Lucky me, I got just one out of three devices with this Wi-Fi bug.!

But certainly, all of them the last Apple devices I will ever buy. Not having Wi-Fi connection is like going back to the cave ages driving a Ferrari.

I returned my 5s because it was "having WiFi issues." The Genius bar agreed and gave me a new phone. The new 5s has the EXACT SAME issues, leading me to concur: It's an 8.1.1 issue. My wife's 5s works fine on 8.1.

For me:

1) The WiFi works fine with my Airport Extreme. Full bars on phone, great download/upload speed.

2) The WiFi LISTS full bars in range of my Airport Express, but there's almost zero download/upload speed.

I have tested using a DFU restore and creating a "new" phone, I have forgotten my networks, I have changed channels and other settings on the Express. Nothing fixes it. It's a software bug. Help Apple!

For a lot of us, the issue is that turning wifi on the device off and back on fixes it, which I think means the wifi goes into a low-power state and doesn't come out of it when you wake it up. Personally having 2 Android devices and 3 PCs that have zero wifi issues and a Mac Mini (even with 10.10.1), an iPad Mini retina, and an iPhone 5s that have this issue tells me it's software-related. I have, for fun, rebooted the router and even reset it entirely to defaults and re-configured it and that didn't help.

I rolled the Mac Mini back to Mavericks after 10.10.1 didn't fix my problem and guess what - the problem magically went away on 10.9.5.

My own personal experience to me indicates it's a problem with the Apple software. The same symptoms being spread across multiple users confirms that. People with Apple network hardware don't seem to have this problem which further tells me the QA methods are terrible. "oh it works with our routers, and that's what everyone has, right?" Wrong.
