Hi Loner T

I'm trying to install windows 7 and I have also the problem with the message of unrecognizing the .ISO file, I'm using a iso file downloaded from windows with original license, a USB 2.0 but the problem is a missing of the first option in the bootcamp, How can I do it ?

To be honest I'm not a computer genius, I hope you could give me simple advices to reach a solution.

Thanks

I'm sorry that is in Italian but as you can see I don't have the first option to burn the .ISO .

HELLO GUYS I CAME WITH MASTER SOLUTION FOR SOLVING INSTALLER DISC NOT FOUND IN BOOTCAMP.

NOTE

if burned iso with right click its wrong.

REQUIREMENTS:

ANY CD OR DVD.WITH 4.7 GB OR HIGHER STORAGE.

SOLUTION:

  • INSERT BLANK DVD OR CD AND PRESS IGNORE WHEN IT ASKS WHAT TO DO.
  • OPEN DISK UTILITY.
  • DRAG YOUR ISO TO THE SIDE BAR WHERE YOUR HARDRIVE IS LOCATED.(IF YOUR .ISO IS ALREADY THERE THEN NO NEED TO DRAG.
  • HIGHLIGHT THE .ISO AND CLICK CONVERT AT TOP.
  • LET THE ENCRYPTION BE NONE OVER THERE.
  • CHOOSE DVD/CD master.
  • THE .ISO WILL TURN TO .CDR .THERE WILL ALSO BE .ISO SO REMOVE THAT WITH RIGHT CLICK.
  • YOU WILL BE LEFT WITH .CDR FORMAT OF YOUR WINDOWS.
  • NOW HIGHLIGHT YOUR .CDR FILE AND CLICK BURN.
  • SET THE SPEED TO 2x to burn with no problems and tick verify and tick mount on desktop.
  • after its done, open bootcamp and click install windows 7 or later version and it will ask you to partition disc with no issue. you then partition your harddrive and it will reboot and continue installation.
  • choose your bootcamp partition > advanced settings > format and then click next.
  • after expanding and installing features it will reboot but dont press any key to boot from any disc or usb .
  • it will continue to setup and then install your downloaded windows support and reboot again and your DONE!

Hello,

I am facing this exact same problem but with an additional complication:

My SuperDrive is powered-up and appears in the device list on my iMac (27-inch 2009 late) but it does not read any CD / DVD

* I tried to verify and repair disc. Verification completed, repair button is unavailable.

Can you identify any problems bellow? Any suggestions / recommendations?

1. Are you referring to an external SuperDrive?

2. If you are installing W7, please be aware of Boot Camp: iMac displays a black screen during installation of Windows 7 - Apple Support.

3. The 2009 iMac will not support an external SuperDrive or a USB for installing Windows. You will either see a black screen with a blinking cursor in top left corner, or a "No bootable device found..." error.

1. My embedded SuperDrive does not work. Although it is powered up and attempts to read CD / DVD discs, in the end it doesn't.

2. I am not trying to upgrade Windows. I am just trying a clean installation of W7.

3. Is there any trick to disable SuperDrive and make use of an external drive for Windows installation?

I indeed get the No bootable device found... error!

May 17, 2015 5:31 PM in response to aldokas

You may want to try and clean the Optical drive lense. The other option is to open up the iMac and remove the SATA cable between the logic board and the Optical drive. The W7 installer does not have the correct AMD drivers, so you will need to follow that link.

You can look at Bootcamp without Optical disc drive or http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=20584499#post20584499 as options.

Yours is the best explanation yet on the problems encountered trying to install Windows on Bootcamp in Mavericks. I've been working on this all day for my Late 2011 MBP. I have been running a 750GB SSD for Mac and a 750GB HD in the OD slot for Windows 7. Windows had been running really cruddy and didn't like me removing Parallels so it was time to do a clean install with a second SSD.

I understand that I would need to reinstall the OD to get Windows back on this machine, but basically you're saying I can no longer run Windows on a second drive, only on a partition of the Mac drive - right? This *****, especially when I could do it in the past.

Hey Loner T.. ive been looking around various threads in this forum (as well as others) and i noticed you helping a lot of people. Great job and thank you for all your help.. I have a problem though, i've tried plist modifications, numerous usb sticks, various methods (even the VMware clone method) and i cant install windows on my machine for the life of me.

I have a late2011 MBP that was "repaired" by Apple bec of the graphics issue. Unfortunately i found out AFTER the allotted repair warranty period that the logic board they gave me had a non-functional sata where the optical drive is supposed to plug in. The optical drive doesnt when in the machine, but when i take it out and put it in an external it works fine. So sad this story. So the only solution is to try and get windows without an internal drive.. Ive tried multiple approaches:

Plist modifications result in "no bootable device".

EFI installations result in MBR/GPT/EFI error.

And Virtual machine cloning i cannot do because when i try to load the VM into the VMDK mounter, the machine hard resets..

Is there any other way i can try or any guide you can point me? I read somewhere you mentioned a workaround for EFI installations, but i cant seem to find a guide. Any help or any source you can point me to would be a great help. Thank you once again. Your expertise on this matter is amazing btw.

There is always an option. Would you be open to buying Winclone (or similar - CampTune)?

Since the Repair you were given was incorrectly done,

1. Please send information to Apple and ask them to fix it. This does not solve your problem right now.

2. Go to the nearest Apple Store, if possible, talk to the Manager, and get a MBP in the store (even if you have to buy it). Take your installer media, and a USB2 flash drive. Install Windows on this brand new Mac.

3. Run Winclone (or similar) with Sysprep.

4. Copy this 'generalized' Windows image to your 2011 Mac (or a portable disk), which is hardware agnostic and restore it on your 2011 MBP.

5. Return the new Mac and ask the store to ensure they wipe it, which is within the 14-day Apple Return policy in the US or applicable local policy.

6. If you run into any issues, please post back here.

Amazing solution i never even thought of. hahahah!

So, my main problem with getting the machine fixed again is that i had the repair done in October 2014. so it has been about 8months already (i hardly ever use optical drives, the only reason i found out mine is broken is precisely because i wanter to reinstall bootcamp, only to find i couldnt bec of broken hardware), so they may not believe my story, although it is always worth a try. Thing is i am in the Philippines and they cannot really authorize such fixes on their own without word from the big boss in the US. And the prices for fixes here are exorbitant... When i had my logic board quoted before they were charging around 60,000php which is around $1200. might as well buy a new plaptopright?

I think i'll try to do that, or borrow a mac from a friend if i can. 🙂 thanks again for your help.
