6 + Grey Bar at top of screen, screen un-responsive

Two weeks ago I noticed that a small grey flickering bar would appear at the top of my screen when unlocking my phone. Sometimes it would just go away and other times it would linger and my screen either: would not accept any touches, or the touches would register incorrectly and open un-wanted apps or type wrong things.

Took it to the Apple store last Saturday, Genius's looked at it and saw the issue, did a screen replacement. It is now one week later and the issue just re-surfaced. I am about to do a full restore on the phone to see if that helps.

Anyone else with this issue???? I will post an update after the restore. None of the people at my store had seen this issue before.

Thanks

-Tom

Count me as one that has this problem with my 6+, since Monday. And it started the same day my dog got hit by a car and I needed to be in touch with the Vet. Talked to online support, "genius" bar, the AT&T store, and several local repair shops. Most of them knew about the problem, but none of them could help me.

The thing is, I would buy a 7+ at this point, but they're all sold out locally. I'm pre-approved by She Who Must Be Obeyed for a new phone now. I'm trying to decide if I should mail out my 6+ to a microsoldering company, or live with it, and pre-order a 7+ online, or pre-order from the AT&T store or the Apple store.

Or maybe I should just get a Samsung. Nothing ever goes wrong with them, right? 😉 ⚠

Dear Host, (because Apple is "everywhere", here, too - sith he can edit anything in this forum- see the <Edited by Host> text at "mendonipadrehab"...)

I got a screen un-responsive problem with my Iphone 6S Plus 256GB two days before, a couple of days after my guarantee has expired...

After this the i could start the phone only with Itunes in this mode: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201412

The „update” version solution did not help because the Itunes asked for the passcode, but on the display it was only the cabel and Itunes symbol – see the third point here again https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201412

Because here in Providenciales (Turks & Caicos Islands, Caribbean) does not exist an official Apple store/repair, i went to an independent repair shop, where the technician did a screen replacement.

After this i tried to restore my phone through Itunes as earlier, but after this the OS restart until the apple symbol has appeared then black display and restart again till the apple symbol...

Once in a while appeared the welcome display for a couple seconds, but in two unusual colors and the display was un-responsive, then the OS restart and restart again, endless.

After this i tried to search to the symptoms and i found the apple community here, so i would like to ask somebody – especially the Dear Host – that has something changed in this issue?

The local technician can not to fix the phone, where should i send it to?

To the nearest Miami official repair store? Which one? (One day with FedEx.)

I am from Europe and i bought the phone over there, but the shipping time with FedEx would be 3 days.

(Moreover I have very bad experiences there when last year the battery of my brand new 6 Plus lasted for 2-3 hours when not used (motherboard problem). In the emerging markets and in half Europe the iPhone repair is outsourced to the Lebanese Midis Group (http://midisgroup.com/) who were dealing with me - as an Apple customer - in a totally inappropriate manner. Very far from what a customer who buys the most expensive smartphone on the market would expect. They finally started to treat me in a normal way and solve my problem when I noticed them that I would forward our email conversation to the competent senior vice president in Cupertino...)

In Europe the iPhones have a guarantee – this is one year.

I have had this issue just after the phone hit one year so out of warranty with my iPhone 6 plus. I took it to Apple store in Brentcross (UK) and they said they were aware of the problem but it was not wide spread. I asked if they had an extended warranty program as its a hardware issue and they declined to comment. I was asked to pay £275 😟 to get it fixed but I have decided to buy a cheaper android phone for now as I feel not worth the expensive repair costs for someone with an average spend. You would expect a big company like Apple to get to the bottom of this matter and either extend the warranty on this issue in good faith.

Very disappointed.

1 Yr, 2 months... this starts happening to me.sometimes can't answer a phone call because it won't work..sometimes phone will type messages/open apps all by itself.

took to the Apple Store and they want 349.00 for a refurbished unit. Unacceptable... this phone cost me just under a grand, and I'm not going to pay MORE to get a broken unit again.

THIS IS my last purchase with Apple.. quality has gone downhill over the years, and they are purposely making bunk devices and not standing behind their design flaws.

(original iPod, mini pod(watch), classic iPod, 4s iPhone, ipad air 2, and the infamous iPhone 6 Plus)

I feel extremely taken advantage of by Apple with this iPhone 6plus issue.

Google pixel - here I come!

You are correct. I've been an independent Apple tech for 9-years. There are alot of flaws besides this one. Don't know if any of you are aware that Apple don't actually make anything on any of their devices. Only the outer shell. They are the masters of sham-wow. I'd advise the world not to allow them to profit anymore - don't buy their products - its all a lie.

Trust me.

Hi

There is now a Multi-Touch Repair Program for iPhone 6 Plus.

Subject to the terms of the program, if your iPhone 6 Plus is exhibiting certain symptoms, is otherwise in working order and the screen is not cracked or broken, Apple will repair your iPhone for a fixed service price (for example, $149 in the US).

Select your country and follow the instructions here:
