iPhoto imports 2 of every photo - iPhone 6

Hello all, 

I just got my iPhone 6 and I love it. But iPhoto imports two copies of EVERY photo and video on sync. 

Specs:

iMac (mid 2011)

2.7 GHz Intel Core i5

4GB 1333 DDR3 

OS 10.10 (Yosemite)

iPhoto 9.5.1

iPhone OS 8.1.1

My photos have not been edited in any way before import. And yet iPhoto brings them in twice. They end up right next to each other in iPhoto.

The names are like this: IMG_6645, and the copy is named IMG_6645_2. Otherwise ALL info is identical.

Can anyone explain? Or help me to stop this?

I used the unplug and plug it in again technique and it worked for me.

Just want to chime in and say that just now, I used the unplug/plug back in trick and it eliminated the duplicate photos. No idea why but it worked!

Unplugging and reconnecting the iPhone is a good work around for me too! Thanks Baba Ji. And may be a clue for Apple too.

I was able to solve this problem by opening the iPhone preferences in iTunes and unchecking the Sync via WiFi box. It seems like iPhoto was finding the iPhone twice, perhaps through two backup pathways.

Give it a try.

I too have tried everything, but in settings, photos & camera, I have just switched KEEP NORMAL PHOTO on, plus I have UPLOAD BURST PHOTOS on, and SUMMARISE PHOTOS on everything else is off. AND I can finally say, no more dups. I have Yosemite 10.10 & iPhone 6 vers 8.2. Hope this helps;/

I have this problem as well but i also have many many multiple copies of my photos. As I scroll through my photos on my iPhone they just keep coming up over and over again, its a total mess.

When I plug my phone into computer to import photos, it imports the photos then says it needs to do it again and again..... never seems to complete??

This photo app is a mess! Apple managed to stuff yet another good working app into a new app that is crap.

Anyone have nay ideas how to get things flowing again?

In Photos....under import....when phone is plugged in....

There are 2 lists, 1 says...."Already Imported", I have 405 photos there,

The next says "New Items" and all the new items are already in the "Already Imported" photos list??

So if I click import it will bring another copy into my library, why is it doing this?

By the way, I NEVER found a solution to this problem.

My iPhone and computer are always updated to the latest software in the hopes of a fix, I've tried all the tricks here and in other threads, I've rebuilt databases, done clean installs, restarted, everything.

Still have the problem. Sometimes two copies of each photo, sometimes three.
