cannot connect to app store

Hi,


On my ipod touch 5 updated to the latest iOS (8.1.1), I cannot connect to either the App Store or the Itunes Store. However:

- Internet connection is working fine (Able to browse)

- I unsucessfully tried the following troubleshooting steps:

- Reboot

- Disconnect from wi-fi and reconnect

- Turn off automatic date and turn it back on (It is set correctly)

- Ensure there are no restrictions

- Reset all the network settings


One thing that is weird is that when I hit the "Updates" icon on the Apps store options, I can see the options for a second but then it disappears and the "Cannot Connect to App Store" message is displayed.

Ok so now my iPod is up and fully functional. As I had suspected that perhaps our modum and router needed to be reset, but my husband thought everything was working fine. A short time later I discovered that my Kindle also would NOT connect to anything. Modum and router was reset and like magic both the kindle as well as my iPod is now working fine... IF anyone hasn't tried that approach, it sure might be well worth a try to see if it too might cure your non-functional iPod.. I'm a happy camper now..........
