cannot connect to app store

Hi,


On my ipod touch 5 updated to the latest iOS (8.1.1), I cannot connect to either the App Store or the Itunes Store. However:

- Internet connection is working fine (Able to browse)

- I unsucessfully tried the following troubleshooting steps:

- Reboot

- Disconnect from wi-fi and reconnect

- Turn off automatic date and turn it back on (It is set correctly)

- Ensure there are no restrictions

- Reset all the network settings


One thing that is weird is that when I hit the "Updates" icon on the Apps store options, I can see the options for a second but then it disappears and the "Cannot Connect to App Store" message is displayed.

I had the same issue, when accessing App Store i was able to click on updates and content was appearing for half a second.


To fix that I navigated to settings app / Touch Id settings and set up access to App and iTunes Stores using Touch Id. This way app store started to work correctly.

But it was on iPhone 6, not iPod touch, so I'm not sure if it will help

iPod 5 does not have Touch ID as far as I know.


I am having this issue as well, trying to fix my mother-in-law's iPad - what's even weirder is that I can fully see everything in the store - featured, categories, etc. - AND it actually updated two apps. But when I try to update the other three that need to be updated, it asks me to sign in over and over and eventually says it can't connect.


Wifi works fine, my Mac and pc, as well as my iPhone works - and I can surf on the iPad in question. Mail works on it as well, so internet connection is not the issue.


I periodically have this problem with my iPhone, but if I try again, it works - I figure it's just an oddity or problem with the Store - but for example, right now - my iPhone is fine but the iPad won't connect.

I updated my iPod Touch Gen. 4 and since that time can play music stored on the iPod and have no trouble connecting to the internet, but can't connect to anything else. email does not connect nor does iTunes or Amazon or any other icon I click on. Cannot synch with computer and no way to get the diagnostic file to the iPod.. I think theres something wrong with the update.. I've tried rebooting and resetting the Apple ID and that just keeps spinning. Anyone have any other ideas??
