Hello. Thanks for your message. I'm still stuck. I deleted the container.plist file. Restarted the imessage APP on my Mac (Yosemite) and it still has the problem. Do I need to delete all the messages for it to start working only on new messages? Help appreciated!
I deleted the container.plist file.
There's no suggestion in either of those threads to delete a file with that name. Please explain exactly what you did.
Sorry for the delay. I'm not sure what I did but it hasn't changed the issue.
I found it a little difficult to follow your last suggestions. As a reminder, all my messages in imessage on yosemite are blank. What do you suggest I do to solve it?
Thanks in advance!
Hi,
The first link the Linc listed was to a thread where the person had posted a pic showing the blank Messages window AND the Menu showing they had no access to the Preferences item as well.
That time it was solved by deleting a Keychain item.
The Second link points to an Answer that looks to use the Font Book to check that the AppleGothic Font is present and is valid and Enabled.
However as Linc points out neither of those threads mentions anything about accessing anything in ~/Library/Containers which is where you would find several container.plist items depending which folders you accessed next.
I would try following the links and doing what is in the Green boxed answers.

I checked and the issues only affects SMS messages, not imessages. Anysuggestions?
Hi,
So to be clear.
With Messages Open but not the "Front" app or with the App in it's quit State you are seeing SMS notifications but on bring the app to the "Front" (or opening it) the main Messages window is blank ?
This only happens with SMS Text Messages and not the iMessages ones (presumably you are not using other accounts types).
Do you have any other Chats/conversations listed in the main window of Messages Side Bar ?
Does the app open at one of those rather than the new Conversation ?
And where are you typing the reply that make the Message "go Blank" ? (in the App or the Notification)

Hi,
I think you have shown me what I was asking.
When you get to the Chat window the new (in this case SMS) chat is the top listed one (Suzanne) whilst another is the displayed chat (CP).
Then when you select the top (New) chat it have no content.
Suzanne's name should be a Drop down which should list the type of Connection.
If it is her iMessages Phone Number or ID then it should have the little Blue Speech bubble indicator and "iMessages" next to it.
A SMS Messages should have a green indicator and the words "Text Message" next it.
If Suzanne and you can also do AIM, Jabber or Yahoo Chats those pairing will also be offered.
Example with me chatting in Messages with two AIM accounts
It lists who I am chatting with and the ID that is with.
It shows the potential iMessages Number s (It lists my Land Line)
Then the iPhone Number and Apple ID
Then it shows I can still chat with ralphjohnsr from yet two more AIM valid Screen Names.
(AS I have an iPhone it does not show any Text Messages option).
Whilst other phones may use a different Font to Messages this should not be a problem as the app is set up to override that and use HelveticNeue.
(it used to be in iChat that in some cases if you didn't have the Font the other person was sending then it would not display).
