Change size of text box in a book

With the 10.0.6 update is there now a way to manually change the size of a text box on a page in a book?

It has nothing to do with any system update. We've always been able to "adjust" photo frames and text boxes with these key combinations which may do what you want:

Command + Option +⬆arrow: increase frame height (small increments).

Command + Option +⬇arrow: decrease frame height (small increments).

Command + Option + ➜ arrow: increase frame width (small increments).

Command + Option + ⬅ arrow: decrease frame width (small increments).

Shift + Command + Option +⬆arrow: increase frame height (large increments).

Shift +Command + Option +⬇arrow: decrease frame height (large increments).

Shift +Command + Option + ➜ arrow: increase frame width (large increments).

Shift +Command + Option + ⬅ arrow: decrease frame width (large increments).

To adjust its position on the page use these key combinations:

Command + Control + ➜ arrow: move frame or text box right (small increments).

Command + Control + ⬅ arrow: move frame or text box left (small increments).

Command + Control + ⬆ arrow: move frame or text box up (small increments).

Command + Control + ⬇ arrow: move frame or text box dow (small increments).

Shift + Command + ⬆ arrow: move frame or text box up (large increments).

Shift + Command +⬇arrow: move frame or text box down (large increments).

Shift + Command + ➜ arrow: move frame or text box right (large increments).

Shift + Command + ⬅ arrow: move frame or text box left (large increments).

Command + Control + ⬆ arrow: rotate frame counter clockwise (small increments).

Command + Control + ⬇ arrow: rotate frame clockwise (small increments).

Shift +Command + Control + ⬆ arrow: rotate frame counter clockwise (large increments).

Shift +Command + Control + ⬇ arrow: rotate frame clockwise (large increments).

You can conver the standard frame (on the left) to this one (on the right)

Thank you for the instantaneous answer - especially on an old thread.

I filled out the feedback form. After using these commands to customize pages for my last few photo books, I'm completely hooked on them. Now I need to "upgrade to a more comfortable experience" (revert to iPhotos) or switch to something like Shutterfly (which I've tried before but prefer Apples integration).

iPhoto wasn't deleted from your hard drive. It was just removed from the Dock and is still in the Applications folder. In order to get iPhoto 9.6.1 from the App Store you first must have some version of iPhoto 9.X on your hard drive. If you do try following Terence Devlin's instructions in this post to obtain iPhoto 9.6.1 from the App Store:

Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1

If iPhoto 9.6.1 is there, close the App Store, drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash and then go back to the App Store.

Install the App from the App Store.

Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?

iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

NOTE: the key to this procedure is to move the existing version of iPhoto 9 to the Trash bin in the Dock (don't empty yet) before going to the App Store.
