I have deleted photos from iphone 6 but the photo library still takes up a lot of space in internal storage. How can I delete photo library from storage on the iphone?

Had a photos storage problem when restoring an older model phone with less memory from a newer model phone with more memory. Extra 6-7GB of storage taken by Photos, but only a few photos available to view in the library. Very confusing. Moving the date backwards and then deleting as you explained was the answer. Thanks!

It was solved 2 years ago. Look at the date of the message you replied to.

However, that is only one solution; there are several different problems that cause the same symptoms.

Hello There, ive faced same problem, however ive managed to solved it, what i did i found a folder "recently deleted " inside the Photo Apps and i just cleared it up and the space increased. I believe the folder act as detour for all recently deleted pictures before it is deleted permenently in after certain periods, not sure how long. This might be the safety cautions for those that with quicky fingers accidentally deleting their pictures resulting best moments lost so that they can be retrieve if notice earlier.

Correct. Recently Deleted is like a trash or recycle folder in a file system. Unlike those, however, photos are removed after 30 days.

This helped a ton. It freed up nearly 3 GB of storage Andy on a 12 GB phone that is a lot.
