New Mac Pro compatibility with Blackmagic Intensity?

Hello!

The video production studio I work for is thinking about making the upgrade to the "new" Mac Pro (the trash can) because of the 4K capability. My old 2010 model is absolutely not cutting it when it comes to processing the footage.

However, I need my Blackmagic Intensity Pro card in order to display through Premiere Pro onto an external 63" Samsung Plasma TV (I have a dual Apple Cinema HD display setup with the TV mounted above my desk) for when clients come for edit sessions.

It doesn't seem to me like there's a way to incorporate this hardware with the new Mac Pro, which is off-putting. Is there a way? All my google research doesn't give me results for the New Mac Pro.

If it doesn't work, is there a workaround? Or a different method of connecting my TV?

Thanks!

Hannah

So you want to use the card to do also video capture?

Because you still have not stated this. Simply thay you want to use it to playback onto the TV.

I'm really sorry about all the confusion!

I don't need video capture.

The links you posted before were for previewing on a second computer monitor. I have two Apple Cinema HD computer monitors that both display my desktop and I can use both monitors for Premiere. I can set it up to have one monitor be used for plackback. However, what I'm trying to accomplish is being able to hit "play" on my timeline and have the signal from Premiere be outputted to an external HDMI "preview monitor," like my Samsung TV. The TV is unused except for playback. It's not an extra desktop.

In order for Premiere to recognize an HDMI device for this specific playback function, I need a video card/device like Blackmagic or AJA for it to play through. Otherwise, Premiere won't "see" it.

I guess that is definitely an option. Instead of spending $300 on a new video card, I guess I could just use the TV as another desktop display and select it as a preview monitor. I wonder how the quality would compare?

Compare to what?

It's a 63" Plasma HDTV, so I wonder if there would be a difference in quality between playing the video back as if it were on a computer desktop vs. the direct signal. Probably no difference.
