I have a MacBook with Yosemite. No matter what I set in mail preferences, my trash is only saved for seven days. I can set it to a month or never but it always deletes after seven days. Is there a conflict with the settings for my Mail when I use iCloud on the web?I've got that set for a month. For some reason it doesn't have the same choices as Mac mail.

Do you have an iPhone, iPad, or another computer using that iCloud email? If so, you will need to check the settings their also. iPhone and iPad are defaulted to remove after 1 week.
Possibly because of your settings. I'm not sure if it is the same in Yosemite but for me, I go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Advanced > and there I can adjust "Remove copy from server after ..."
I've reset the "Remove copy..." several different ways, both on my mac and in icloud, but it always deletes after 7 days.
Have you tried talking to your mail provider. Sometimes they do things which impinge on your settings. Most UK based providers are happy to talk you through their system.
I use apple icloud mail. Would that be my mail provider? If so, I could talk to them, and it'll cost me. But it might be worth it, I suppose.
.Cloud is not your mail provider. Who do you buy your telephone / internet services from. Mine is Sky, for example.
It's Bell Canada. It seems odd, however, that they would have anything to do with how long my mail is saved since it's saved on Apple's servers, not Bell's.
Don't know how Bell works. Usually the control is what I mentioned in my first post. It may simply be Yosemite, which appears prone to glitches and which I wouldn't touch with a barge pole at the moment. That said, I am sure it will be sorted soon; some people feel it was rather rushed out too quickly.
As far as your mail provider is concerned I was looking for alternatives. I have my mail sent via a circuitous route because I have my own private address but no website. All very complicated but it works for me.
I believe you are only allowed so much space on iCloud. Is it being deleted because of that?

Bell said they have nothing to do with this. And my icloud space has loads of room for more. So it's not any of those things. My guess is it's a Yosemite bug, and they'll fix it eventually. By the way, I just tried rebuilding my mailbox. We'll see if that works. Also, a post on another site suggesting dumping my index files, then rebuilding, but someone tried that and lost their mail and all settings, so I don't want to try that. Also, re Yosemite, this is the only problem I've had with it so far.

Where are your finding "Remove copy..."
I can't remember what a POP account looks like, so that may be why I'm confused.

Mine actually looks like yours - "Move deleted..." etc. I only mentioned the "Remove copy..." because the previous poster had referenced it regarding an earlier version of Mail he was using. So yes, I've tried one month, never, etc., and still it deletes everything after 7 days.

Bell is a POP system, the mail is not saved on Apples servers, it is saved on Bells servers.
