How do I disable xfinity wifi?

I am not sure if apple can help me solve this, but I would appreciate anyone's input

Over the past couple of months, I have found that my macbook air mini and ipad automatically join xfinity wifi where ever it is available. I do not have an xfinity account, and cannot access this, so it just blocks me from proper internet usage. I keep on setting my default back to my home wifi (which works just fine, and has been for the past 2 years), but every time I turn on the computer, it just goes back to non-working xfinity. Frankly, I am getting quite tired of having to go through this process every time I turn on my computer. Does anyone know of any way to fix this?

According to Comcast connecting without the profile will give you a connection, but only for a limited time (30 minutes I believe) then you have the opportunity of choosing whether you want to pay for it and then you will get a profile. Once you have the profile logging in is not required, and the connection will last for as long as you want it to.

Saw that, over at Xfinity's site right now and visited a Samsung site where users also complain about this so definitely not an Apple thing. They do have a stop doing it process but it assumes you already have connected once and oddly you have to turn off WiFi to do it.

XFINITY Mobile

This one covers both Android and iPhone.

Very interesting. I note that the Xfinity article was written on May 30 2017 -- many months after the original post (Dec 3, 2014)

Sadly the iPhone instructions are not valid for IOS 10.3.3 -- There is no "auto-join" to toggle off. I believe that option WAS available in older versions of IOS. The same is true of the iPad which is running the same version of IOS.

I've experienced this connection problem for many years but have focused on more important issues.

I believe this should be an issue for all xfinity business account subscribers. I'd be very upset if I were paying xfinity to provide WiFi to my business customers only to have them interfere with this service to proselytize (force advertise) for xfinity services, at the inconvenience of my customers.

I don't know why computer/phone manufacturers can't seem to allow their hardware to block xfinity.

Since xfinity has worked hard, and heavily invested, to transform themselves from one of the worst customer support companies to one of the best, maybe they should reconsider this business account policy.

(I apologize if this point has already been made but I'm not going to browse 17 pages of replies to check.)

Hi Firewell,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

If you have a wireless network that you no longer want to see or connect to then remove that network from the list of remembered networks.

iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections - Apple Support

5. Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you're connected.
6. Tap User uploaded file and Forget this Network.

OS X Mavericks: Choose preferred Wi-Fi networks

1. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Network.

2. Choose Wi-Fi in the network connection services list, then click Advanced.

3. … Select a network and click Delete ➖ to remove it from the list.

Best regards,

Nubz
