How do I disable xfinity wifi?

I am not sure if apple can help me solve this, but I would appreciate anyone's input

Over the past couple of months, I have found that my macbook air mini and ipad automatically join xfinity wifi where ever it is available. I do not have an xfinity account, and cannot access this, so it just blocks me from proper internet usage. I keep on setting my default back to my home wifi (which works just fine, and has been for the past 2 years), but every time I turn on the computer, it just goes back to non-working xfinity. Frankly, I am getting quite tired of having to go through this process every time I turn on my computer. Does anyone know of any way to fix this?

I'm having the same issue. Every where I go where there is xInfinity WiFi it boots me off network that's active with each time I close my laptop. I've removed the Xinfinity from System preferences but it does not go away. I don't have xInfinity setup with a user name and password! I tried unchecking "Remember networks this computer has joined" but no improvement. This is super annoying . Did ATT hack Apples OS?

I know what the issues is. There is wireless network available from my router that I set up, at a later date I switched to ATT Internet, their cable modem comes with a wireless network inside. It's broadcasting and there may be a way to turn it off on the modem itself but it's not apparent. I'm only utilizing the modem function and I don't care for ATT's wireless connection or I've already setup a network on my router. The problem for Apple is there is some hierarchy that ATT has that act likes spam or advertising so every time I open my laptop it switches over to Xinfinity. Help.

I have this problem too and it's driving me nuts. The deal is comcast, by default, turns all comcast customers into public wifi hotspots and you have to manually opt-out of this. I am a comcast customer and I have opted out. However, there are enough hot spots in my neighborhood that this wretched Xfinity still overrides my own signal - which I know is both stronger and faster.

To be totally honest and paranoid - I think Apple and other manufacturers have some kind of underhanded deal with comcast that is causing this to happen. What else would be causing this?

I too have this problem. I read to delete this network, and remove it from the list, however that is not an option for me. I click on the minus, but xfinity will just not go away! I am quite sure there are more than 6 people with this problem, most have just not bothered to report the same problem. I can live with it, it is VERY annoying to have to keep switching back to my network!!

I would say most people aren't coming to Apple looking for the answer,

it isn't necessarily a Mac issue- but being Mac users, with out much help on the internet, we have come here...

It has been an issue in my area (another factor more then likely), being Colorado, for at least a year.

Most people probably, and as I have, just ignore the xfinitywifi log in pop up window by turning it off and then clicking whatever WiFi they're computer should have automatically synced to in the first place.

I have been doing this the whole time over the past year+, and like these people have finally grown sick of Xfinity automatically attempting to take over our WiFi Internet Service no matter where we are. I deleted it as a past network & that did not work. I am guessing perhaps that these other people may be in Denver or Colorado in general or another area where they have this implemented, so probably people outside of whatever areas it is in, this is not happening & people don't know what we are talking about-

It is an automatic pop up window whenever you attempt to get on line, that automatically tries to log you into their network every time you go online, it is beyond annoying. It doesn't matter if you are anywhere you have been or in your own home, their automatic request to join their network doesn't allow your computer to just log into known/saved networks (even with passwords saved)...

Mac users have come here looking to get rid of it because I have googled 3 different searches at least & can't find anything, but here, and some others that were no help to any avail. This may be only happening in this area & it has taken me a year of being annoyed to try to finally get rid of their lame over-riding technology that automatically tries to connect me to their network... this is why there may not be many queries to our issue.

So if there are Mac Users that live in Colorado or elsewhere where Comcast/Infinity has this program implemented (that knows what we are talking about), Please help & save us from this annoying infinity pop up window... Please do share with us how to block InfinityWiFi autologin.

***I am so fed up, I will subject myself to calling the company & be on hold for the next hour probably to find out how to block/disengage their technology, I promise to respond w/ the answer (if they give me one- I'm sure they love the free advertisement flashed every time I go on line but they fail to realize it has only made me hate the Company taking over my computer any time I try to go online via WiFi).

Ok i think i might have figured it out. Go to system preferences > network > advanced. It should have a list of all your networks. Instead of deleting the xfinity wifi, just drag xfinity wifi to the bottom of the list (drag the networks in the order you prefer). Then it should automatically connect to your own network and never connect to xfinity wifi unless there is no other available network. Hope this helps!

I fixed mine by going to System Prefs, network and then asked to run Diagnostics. Then my regular wifi network was back up at the top, and xfinity wifi was next to last on the list. Rather than touching anything else, I let it stay there. Shut off computer. Rebooted in a couple of minutes, and the regular *old* screen appeared instead of just asking for my password (like click on my icon), enter password, and it all came up on my regular network. No xfinity wifi butting in!!! It had been going on for months and I couldn't see a way out. Phew!
