A problem occurred with this web page so it was reloaded

I've got an iPad mini running IOS9 and a 12.9" iPad Pro. The mini needs to reload the pages at Hotair.com pretty frequently and I have the impression that it happens more frequently when I am a good distance from the router. I have no such problem with the iPad Pro, but it does occasionally do the same thing, i.e., reload the page. I agree with the assessment that it seems to happen more frequently when adjusting the page magnification with finger spread or when using the Reader mode (the four lines at the left of the Safari search box)

Hi. You should report this to Apple here https://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html. It would obviously help them if you can identify the features causing it, or provide them a page exhibiting the problem.

Web browsers randomly crash on iPad2 since the iOS9 updates.

I still have an iPad 2 and although it is noticibly slower, I am not experiencing crashes. I did set it up new a while back & that helped clear any issues that had accumulated over its five years of daily use.

We are porting (a very complex) tech app based on html5/js/svg running on PCs. We got the same problem - pinch op crashes the web page - sporadic but reproducible pretty soon (<30sec). Device: iPad, iPhone 6s+ (2GB RAM)

Present both on Safari / Chrome. The iPhone was updated yesterday to the current state.

Nothing helps (clear, etc. mentioned above).

Interestingly enough, same error might happen using the "magnifying-glass-type combo" user interface element (on iPhone) which also works like an implicit pinch-out. It seems to be that the problem does not connected directly to the amount of RAM installed.

Same app rock stable on Android 6.x/Chrome

This still happens on my iPad 3 on Safari, still mostly while on Facebook.com and usually when I try to pinch-zoom a photo. A lot of annoying Safari behavior had been happening on Facebook's web site after ios8, and it continued with IOS 9 (which was as high as I could update the iPad 3.)

I have now purchased a 12.9" iPad Pro and I notice this problem no longer occurs when pinch-zooming in Safari in iOs 10, not even on Facebook's web page. I don't know if the unfixed problem was due to the hardware or the software of the iPad 3, but it seems to be gone in this iteration of hardware/software for me.

Yes, indeed. To reproduce the problem we have prepared a small test from our app. It triggers WEB page reload error after a couple of pinch in/out operations:

Problem present even with the latest update on iPad, iPad Pro, 6S+. Now we are searching workarounds, for example how to disable the pinch op (the 'official' way which worked fine on 9.x (and still is working on androids) does not disable pinch-ing on 10.x.

I do not believe we get useful feedback on the official way but I hope somebody from Apple developers will read this thread and maybe give some hints on an *informal* way ...

I posted that I'd not buy another iPhone or Apple device since support is so pathetic in addressing this issue.

We wonder if Apple Support might help or pays attention here?

I keep getting the same message and refresh. A long time ago I tried closing all my apps, clearring my cache and history, and shutting down, power off, and turning it back on. I'm on an iPad2 running iOS 10. I also have the disappearing or freezing keyboard issue. Both are so ftigging annoying. The refresh sometimes happens when I'm typing long-ish comment , and of course it freaking disappears. I try and remember to use notes but I usually forget to. I've actually punched my iPad a couple of times! Aaaarrrggghhhh!

Hahaha, I've punched my iPad 3 so many times because of this and other issues that the video now gets lines across the screen until I flex the whole thing a bit toward me. I upgraded to the iPad Pro just in time.

I have to congratulate Apple on the strength of the glass though, even if the operating system bugs in the old ones make me want to punch something.

Just for the record, I'm not a techie and I don't know how to do complicated stuff. I'm just a normal girl trying to use her iPad for email, browsing, blogging, work, etc. I don't play games or do anything fancy on it. I just need it to work. I bought an iPad 2 three years ago - a short time ago for me, but according to Apple it is now an antique. I don't automatically do every update because of all the issues that often follow, and after I went from 7 something to 8.3 some time ago, and lost things and had to learn to use it all over again, I vowed I'd never update again. Now they say 9.3.5 will be the last update for this model (thank goodness), but I'm afraid to chance it. I now live out of the country and cannot risk bricking my iPad, because a trip to the Apple Store or ordering a new one is not an option here.

Safari has crashed more and more for me lately. And no, it isn't just web page ads. I tried opening my company's online Quickbooks account in Safari (because thanks to Quickbooks, they changed their app to require 9.0 or higher) and it crashes. No ads here. I'm always reluctant to try resetting, but I finally did the three steps suggested here (the other items about Speech, etc. did not apply - those settings weren't on). I was hopeful with this one, but it didn't work either. After my iPad rebooted I went straight to the Quickbooks site in Safari and it immediately crashed. I have no faith that an update to iOS 9.3.5 will solve my problem either - I fear it will only create more. I will continue to limp along until I'm forced to get a new device. I used to love my iPad but based on my experiences lately, I'm not sure it will be an Apple.

Has anyone, anyone what so ever, in the history of this user community, just one person, ever found a PERMANENT FIX?

IM not talking temporary solutions, delete cache>clearbrowser>reboot etc etc.

This is not a fix its a temporary solution.

Does anyone know if this bug is enough to claim a refund on grounds faulty equipment? Breach of consumer law? Anything?

If the constant message of "a problem occurred with this website so it was reloaded" was anything at all to do with the website in question, then why does this message ONLY appear on iOS devices? It doesn't happen on laptops, other tablets, phones or PCs, it only happens with Apple products. I have used the same websites for years and years with absolutely zero problems or issues, the exact same sites are quite frankly unusable on iPads. This IS an Aplle issue without a shadow of a doubt.

You like everyone else have only give a temporary soloution. It is not a permanent fix.

What is really frustrating is that when I purchased the iPad I've purchased AppleCare plus. At the end of my two year agreement I took the iPad to the Apple Store because I was having this problem. The tech said he had never heard of that happening, couldn't find anything wrong with my iPad, put it back to the factory settings and told me it should be fine. However it still does it and so the only thing I can use my iPad for is to play words with friends.

No one here would know about Apple bug fixing since this is a user community. You won't get a response from Apple here.
