combine JPEGs?

I want to combine separate JPEGs into one document. I know, for comparison, how to combine PDFs into one document using either Preview or Automator. Is there a similar technique for JPEGs?

In addition to Preview I also have GraphicConvertor.

No, what you want to do is not stitching.

What you're describing is simply just arranging photos in a document format. For that, you could use Word, Pages, or any application that would allow you to present pictures on a document's page. Any final format could be converted to a PDF for more convent viewing by others. After all, PDF is an acronym for Portable Document Format.

Example using Pages:

Converted to a PDF:

"Stitch?" I guess that would be one way to describe it. What I want is to combine two or more JPEGs into one document so that when anyone opens the document, all the separate images open on one page (or window.) Where each JPEG is less than the length of a sheet of paper, I would prefer to have all the images on one page, so that a reader may scroll up and down. Doing so permits easier reading and comparison of the texts on what had been separate pages. For example, if I want to show a paragraph on Page 37 and present a different paragraph on Page 242, placing the two paragraphs in one open file window makes the job of comparison a whole lot easier.

But one file with multiple pages would still be better than two different documents that readers would have to locate and open separately.

I was hoping to avoid converting the files into PDFs and then back into JPEGs. It would be more convenient to combine the JPEGs without going through conversion to PDF and back.

Word does not help, because it does not save to JPEG format.

I do not have Pages on this computer.

I do have Preview. When I open both JPEGs in Preview, both appear in the Thumbnails column on the left. With PDFs, I can combine them by dropping one thumbnail on the other. No matter how hard I try, I cannot get that technique to work for JPEGs. The header of the Preview window still says "2 documents, 2 pages." I want it to read "1 document, "x" pages." ("X" means that the number of pages is less important.)

Yes, one time I looked at the metadata in a Word file. This was a work-related document. I know that I had edited the document; I do not remember if it was a document that I had created or if it was something I got from someone else. Very likely the latter, because I found in the metadata a jumbled text about King Arthur. I do not remember ever writing the words "King Arthur" in my business.
